EastEnders star James Bye’s son, two, is rushed to hospital ‘screaming in pain’ after eating poisonous garden plant

James Bye, an actor known for his role in EastEnders, along with his wife Victoria, shared that their child Rufus had to be urgently taken to the hospital due to intense pain he experienced following the consumption of a potentially harmful garden plant.

The 41-year-old actor, known for portraying Martin Fowler on the BBC soap opera, has four kids with his spouse Victoria: Edward (age 10), Louis (8), Hugo (5), and two-year-old Rufus.

On Thursday, James’ wife Victoria posted about a concerning incident on Instagram. However, she provided an update on Friday, reassuring everyone that their pet Rufus was safe following a night at the hospital.

Victoria quickly pointed out that shortly after consuming an Italian arum plant, Rufus began experiencing swelling in his tongue. These plants are known for causing skin irritations, heart rhythm problems, and internal bleeding.

On Thursday, she shared: “I’d like to make an exception today – it’s more of a heads-up than a regular update. We’re all aware that life with children is unpredictable, aren’t we?

Last night, we ended up in the hospital due to Rufus nibbling on an unknown harmful plant from our garden. It turned out to be quite a chaotic situation, and I can only imagine they might start charging us for staying there soon!

In just a few moments, his tongue began to expand, causing him intense pain and prompting him to scream. We immediately dialed emergency services (and as usual, the NHS staff were heroic).

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an eye-opening experience I had recently. Fortunately, everything turned out well in the end, but let me warn you about a seemingly harmless yet potentially dangerous plant – the Italian Arum. This common garden plant boasts bright orange berries that exude an innocent charm, but beware! It can be seriously toxic if consumed. Always exercise caution when dealing with plants to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone in your household.

I didn’t realize it before, but upon further investigation, I discovered that many poisonous plants are hiding in plain sight within British gardens.
