Tom Felton continues to show his support for JK Rowling amid trans rights controversies as he attends Harry Potter and the Cursed Child 10 year theatre celebration
On a Thursday night, Tom Felton maintained his backing for J.K. Rowling by participating in the 10-year theater anniversary event of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in Hamburg.
In a recent announcement, it was disclosed that the 37-year-old actor, best known for portraying Draco Malfoy in the initial Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, will once again step into his character’s shoes for the upcoming Broadway production.
Despite Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint distancing themselves from J.K. Rowling over her contentious opinions about transgender rights, Tom has openly expressed his backing for the author.
On Thursday, he was in high spirits, taking selfies with fans at the Theater am Großmarkt in the German city.
Looking stylish for the evening Tom opted for a cream summer blazer jacket and matching trousers.
He completed the look with a blue T-shirt and round shades as he smiled for snaps.

For quite some time now, J.K. Rowling has expressed strong opinions about transgender individuals, and since the Supreme Court’s decision on April 17, she has persistently used the term “men” when referring to transgender women.
Despite some of his fellow actors becoming cold towards her, over 20 years since J.K. Rowling launched his career, Tom continues to express appreciation and gratitude towards the Harry Potter series author for the opportunities she provided him.
At the recent Tonys, someone questioned Tom about whether the debates surrounding a writer’s stance on transgender rights had any impact on his professional endeavors.
He responded: ‘No, it doesn’t resonate with me particularly. To be honest, I’m not very in tune with it. The one thing I constantly recall is my good fortune to have traversed the globe.’
In New York at the moment, and I must say there’s nothing quite like J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series when it comes to uniting the world. She is the one who made this happen, and I am deeply appreciative for it.
In April, Rowling made it clear that she wouldn’t be able to forgive the younger actors from the movie series for expressing disagreement with her stance on transgender rights.
‘I’m sorry to say, but I won’t forget.’
The author remarked, ‘Stars who embraced a movement undermining women’s previously achieved rights and publicly supported the transitioning of minors might direct their apologies towards those traumatized by de-transitioning and women depending on female-only facilities instead.’

Tom also previously expressed his excitement about joining the upcoming Broadway production.
He shared with Variety: “It seemed everyone believed that the passion for the wizarding world might gradually diminish over time, perhaps even extinguishing. However, it’s evident now that it hasn’t.
What I find most thrilling is performing it live. It takes about nine months, give or take, to film a movie. But here, everything is condensed. Everything has been creatively reworked into a captivating, concise narrative. And on top of that, I get to play the role of a father, which has been a real joy.
Starting in November, I’ll be thrilled to step into my new role on this popular series, committing to it for a captivating 19-week stint. Come March 2026, I’ll bid farewell after wrapping up an unforgettable run on the show.
Last month, he publicly announced some thrilling news on the Today show, expressing that being involved in the Harry Potter movies was undoubtedly one of the most significant accolades of his life.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of becoming part of “Cursed Child” this autumn. The reason? I’ll be stepping onto that stage at the very same age as Draco Malfoy in the storyline – an incredible full-circle moment for me!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, scripted by JK Rowling, unfolds events 19 years following the conclusion of the initial book series.
It follows Harry, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Draco’s kids as they head off to Hogwarts.
Harry’s son, Albus, and Draco’s son, Scorpius, forge a strong friendship and embark on their very own escapade, which nearly brings about the downfall of the entire magical realm.

Tom expressed that it feels almost unreal to slip back into his old role, not just his famous silver-blond locks, but also to continue telling his captivating tale. He is elated about this opportunity to engage with the most outstanding fan base on earth.
‘I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.’
Following the widespread spread of the news about Tom being cast, it seemed Rowling was delighted as she shared the announcement on X, using a burst of snake and green heart emojis to express her excitement.
Recently, Tom’s interview follows shortly after J.K. Rowling seemed to make critical comments about Harry Potter actors Daniel, Emma, and Rupert in a social media post she shared with her 14.3 million followers back in March.
She composed a sharp retort, seemingly alluding to a group, as an answer to the query: ‘Which actor/actress immediately spoils a film for you?’
Swiftly and mysteriously, Rowling penned: “Give it three tries, I couldn’t help myself.” She concluded her message with a series of laughter emojis.
