Classic British detective drama ‘better than Midsomer Murders’ to get fresh reboot with Vera writer

The popular British detective series Dalziel and Pascoe, which originally aired on the BBC from 1996 to 2007, is being revived by BritBox and ITV. The new version will be a modern update of the show, based on the novels by crime writer Reginald Hill. The original series ran for 11 seasons.

ITV, the UK broadcaster for this show, has announced that the series follows the dynamic between experienced detective Dalziel and his new, rule-following partner, DS Pascoe. Although they have very different approaches, Dalziel and Pascoe become a strong team, and their story is full of humor, warmth, and relatable human moments.

The series will be made by West Road Pictures, part of All3Media – the company also known for producing shows like Ridley, starring Adrian Dunbar, and Hollington Drive on ITV.
