‘Terrifier‘ House Coming to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights
Brace yourself for a frightening experience: The chilling character, Art the Clown, will be making an appearance to scare visitors at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights in 2025.
As a dedicated horror enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that this autumn, I’ll have the chilling pleasure of experiencing a haunted house attraction inspired by the grisly Terrifier movie series as part of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando and Hollywood.
The focus of the event will be on Art the Clown’s sinister Funhouse from “Terrifier 2”, showcasing beloved characters like Vicky, the Little Pale Girl, and a host of gruesome, bloody sequences typical of this grim series.
The “haunted house” was devised by the skilled creator Damien Leone, the producer Phil Falcone, along with Dark Age Cinema Productions.
Watch a twisted teaser for the forthcoming theme park attraction, below:
Given that Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights events are incredibly immersive, I think I might choose to avoid it this year, particularly following the notorious bedroom scene from the movie “Terrifier 2.” (I appreciate the offer but I’ll pass!)
For 2025, other themed haunted houses that have been confirmed include a “Friday the 13th”-themed Jason Universe attraction and a haunt inspired by Amazon Prime Video’s post-apocalyptic “Fallout” series.
Each year during Halloween season, Universal Studios hosts a terrifying event known as Halloween Horror Nights. This event showcases expertly crafted haunted mansions, spine-chilling outdoor terrors called scare zones, and unique performances tailored to the occasion, such as live shows.
Previous year’s offerings encompassed haunted house concepts reminiscent of terrifying films like Insidious, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and A Quiet Place.
Halloween Horror Nights takes place on certain evenings from Friday, August 29th through Sunday, November 2nd at Universal Studios Florida.
The eerie seasonal occasion will take place from Thursday, September 4th to Sunday, November 2nd, right here at Universal Studios Hollywood in sunny Los Angeles.
In October 2024, the latest installment of the Terrifier series, titled “Terrifier 3,” hit the screens worldwide. This movie earned more than $90 million at the global box office on a budget of just $2 million. It also received a positive response from critics, with a 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Right now, they’re working on another sequel, “Terrifier 4.
The Worst Horror Movies of 2025
Until Dawn
The movie “Until Dawn” revolves around a band of college friends who find themselves stuck in a cycle of terrifying supernatural events while searching for one friend’s lost sister. However, the plot is complicated by multiple intertwining storylines, puzzling twists, and insufficient character development. Amidst this group of generally unlikable characters, actress Ji-young Yoo shines as a peculiar self-proclaimed psychic. The film’s interesting monster designs hint at its potential had the script been as sharp and witty as that of “The Cabin in the Woods.” Despite the fact that the movie adaptation of “Until Dawn” bears little resemblance to its gripping, suspenseful 2015 video game precursor, this 2025 haunted house flick fails to make a lasting impact before running out of time.
The Woman in the Yard
In “The Woman in the Yard,” a family grappling with the devastating loss of their father is haunted by an enigmatic, veiled woman at their remote farmhouse. The setup is intriguing, and it must be said that the performances are genuinely strong, with Danielle Deadwyler delivering a powerful portrayal of a mother in crisis and Peyton Jackson convincingly portraying a teenager burdened beyond his years. However, the film disappoints by not delivering the heart-pounding horror scenes expected from its genre. The movie leans heavily on emotional symbolism and a slow-building plot, which takes too long to intensify, leaving viewers who easily lose focus feeling unsatisfied due to an incomplete resolution.
M3GAN 2.0
In essence, the upcoming film, referred to as M3GAN 2.0, is not strictly a horror movie but more of a sci-fi action thriller with horror elements. This classification might seem like a bit of a stretch, given its narrative ties to the 2023 comedy-sci-fi-horror film M3GAN. The sequel presents a unique blend where the former violent slasher doll transforms into something resembling a superhero lite, partnering with her creator to combat a larger, more menacing AI threat, reminiscent of Terminator 2’s narrative structure.
While maintaining elements of the original’s exuberant style and witty dialogue that endeared the first movie to audiences, M3GAN 2.0 is marred by an intricate plotline and inconsistent tonal shifts that may disappoint devotees of the original’s campy horror atmosphere.
The Ritual
Have you come across the tale about two priests, bonded by their traumatic pasts – an elder with a checkered history and a youth questioning his beliefs – who stroll into an exorcism? I’ve heard it too. This religious suspense film is loaded with more exorcism tropes than you can count, tossing the scripture at them. It claims to be based on real events! One of the priests is a cynic who’s lost faith in the Church! A young woman dressed in white begins floating above her bed and speaking in unknown languages! Despite boasting an impressive cast featuring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens, The Ritual essentially regurgitates every possession and exorcism film you’ve previously watched, offering nothing fresh for the collection.
Bloat
In the horror movie set in Japan, a family’s peaceful vacation takes a terrifying turn when their youngest child appears to be possessed by an evil water spirit known as a kappa, following a close call with drowning. The plot, reminiscent of Japanese horror, could have been intriguing if it didn’t seem overly familiar and worn out. However, the use of a webcam narrative, similar to that in films like “Unfriended” or “Searching,” actually diminishes potential scares. Regrettably, this modern adaptation of Japanese folklore struggles due to unengaging characters and predictable storytelling that makes it hard to invest emotionally in the events unfolding on screen. (In reality, the legend of kappa is far bloodier and captivating than what this film offers.)
Opus
Intriguingly, the storyline presents a captivating concept: A budding reporter is summoned to the fortress of a former pop icon turned cult leader who vanished decades ago. He’s now back with a new album and followers that are fanatically devoted. Initially, it offers a gripping, intellectual whodunit, but soon transforms into an expected, substance-lacking mystery burdened by flat, stereotypical characters.
John Malkovich gives a splendidly quirky performance as a pop star akin to Elton John with hidden villainous motives, yet his intriguing allure is not enough to elevate this film that mimics the tone of ‘Midsommar’ produced by A24.
Fear Street: Prom Queen
2021 saw me delightfully immerse myself in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy, a chilling and nostalgic homage to horror films. While the first three parts were an engaging blend of suspense, the fourth installment, Fear Street: Prom Queen, fell short for me.
Set in the 1980s, this slasher flick not only dabbles in ’80s nostalgia; it leans on it excessively. The story revolves around the senior dance at Shadyside High, where a mysterious killer begins picking off the prom queen candidates one by one. Unfortunately, this plot feels strikingly similar to numerous other films I’ve seen under various titles before.
Devoid of originality and lacking depth, Fear Street: Prom Queen offers flat characters and disappointingly avoids the campiness that such a setting demands. Despite the promising premise, it fails to claim the crown as an exceptional horror film.
