“Fun throwback” ’70s-set crime series with “expertly chosen cast” has just been cancelled after one season

70s-set crime series Duster has been axed after just one season.

The series made its premiere on HBO Max in May, with its narrative revolving around the FBI’s first black female agent who teams up with a getaway driver to take down a notorious crime boss.

In this role as a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’m diving into an exciting new TV show. Starring Rachel Hilson from “The Good Wife,” Josh Holloway from “Lost,” and Keith David from “Rick and Morty,”, this series is a must-watch! It’s brought to you by none other than JJ Abrams, the genius behind “Star Wars,” and LaToya Morgan, who’s made waves on “Shameless.” Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

Nonetheless, HBO announced they were ending the series a week following the season one finale, as confirmed in an official statement.

Although HBO Max has decided not to produce a second season of ‘Duster’, we are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with the exceptionally gifted co-creators JJ Abrams and LaToya Morgan, as well as our partners at Bad Robot and Warner Bros Television.

We’re incredibly proud of the success of the series spearheaded by Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson, and we extend our gratitude to both of them, our talented cast, and hardworking crew for their exceptional teamwork and shared efforts.

As a diehard fan, I’d express it like this: “I’m totally blown away by how JJ Abrams and LaToya Morgan brought us a gripping, multi-layered crime drama titled Duster. Their brilliant storytelling transported me back to the 70s in a fresh, inventive way, introducing characters that feel incredibly real.

The lively portrayal of those characters was masterfully achieved by a fantastic team headed by Josh, Rachel, and an exceptionally skilled acting troupe. Behind the scenes, a proficient team also played their part. We are immensely proud of our show and grateful to HBO Max for allowing us to share Jim and Nina’s tale, even though we wish the journey could go on.

The dust-off show garnered praise, boasting a remarkable 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. _Newsday_ hailed it as an entertaining homage and a triumphant comeback for JJ Abrams.

In simpler terms, Common Sense Media stated that although the plot doesn’t offer anything particularly novel, it’s enjoyable to see the well-selected actors add some dramatic flair to the scenes.

Duster airs on HBO Max in the US.

The latest print edition from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is available for purchase! You can find it at your local newsstands or buy it online, with a special price of only £8.99.
