Why Star Wars Fans Think Rey Movie Is Canceled

Recently, whispers have surfaced that the production of Daisy Ridley’s Rey film might be scrapped. With the extensive Star Wars universe growing rapidly, filled with numerous planned movies and series, this development has left many fans perplexed about the status of the franchise. At present, there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the contrasting reports on the Rey movie.

So, is the Rey movie really shelved? Let’s find out!

Has Daisy Ridley’s Rey movie been canceled by Disney and Lucasfilm?

No, contrary to earlier rumors, the Rey movie has not been canceled by Disney and Lucasfilm.

According to reports by Scooper Daniel Richtman, the movie was paused for more time last month. Yet, it’s been clarified by another source, Jeff Sneider, that the project continues to be under active development.

LucasFilm hasn’t completed the script for the upcoming movie yet, so it’s not paused or postponed. Instead, the writing process is ongoing…The Rey movie’s script is still in progress and hasn’t been finalized yet. If they decided to put it on hold, they would halt the writing process. But since they’re waiting for the completion of the script, it means the project isn’t on hold.” (He shared this insight during The Hot Mic podcast.)

Furthermore, Sneider stated that the movie isn’t the sole Star Wars spinoff featuring Rey as the main character; instead, there are several other projects in development where Daisy Ridley will be the leading actress. This suggests that she may star in numerous other productions within the expansive collection. “As I’ve mentioned before, that film isn’t the only one with Rey as the lead; we have multiple projects in the works with Rey as the main character.

Intriguingly, I’ve heard whispers about an upcoming project centered on the enigmatic Rey, following her journey post-Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As this project continues to gather momentum, eager fans like myself can only wait and see what revelations unfold as we move forward.
