New show from creator of game-changing Netflix series often hailed as a masterpiece gets update
In August, a fresh, adult-oriented animated show created by the mind behind BoJack Horseman, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, will debut on Netflix.
People who enjoy the existential series centering around an anthropomorphic horse striving for recognition in Tinseltown might find themselves drawn to the highs and lows portrayed in the latest family-oriented comedy, “Long Story Short“.
Stepping onto the streaming platform on the 22nd of August, I found myself immersed in a gripping tale that follows the highs and lows of the Schwooper clan, presented in an unconventional timeline. As a gamer, it’s like diving into their digital world, experiencing their victories and setbacks alongside them.

Throughout life’s stages, spanning from youth to maturity, and even revisiting past times, this series jumps between various timeframes. A distinguished ensemble brings the diverse personalities to voice life.
The stacked ensemble resembles that of BoJack, featuring well-known actors in both recurring and guest appearances. These include Abbi Jacobson from Disenchantment, Lisa Edelstein known for House, and Max Greenfield of New Girl.
Additionally, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Angelique Cabral, and Nicole Byer are part of the main cast. Meanwhile, Dave Franco and Michaela Dietz will join as regular guests on the show.
Joking on his return to Netflix, creator Bob-Waksberg had a cheeky comment for the streaming giant.
I’m genuinely excited and proud to be back at my favorite task: crafting catchy quotes for press releases in Hollywood trade publications. It seems that one can indeed return home!” he expressed.
In a nutshell, the same team that brought you BoJack is back together, with Alissa Blake-Waksgberg leading the charge alongside Lisa Hanawalt, Noel Bright, and Steven A. Cohen in production roles.
Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley, who are part of the animation studio ShadowMachine (known for BoJack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, and Pinocchio), assume the role of co-executive producers.
“In short, ‘Long Story Short’ will debut on Netflix on August 22. By the way, if you haven’t already, you can watch ‘BoJack Horseman’ on the same streaming service.”
