Devil Wears Prada sequel adds 10 stars to the cast – including 2 returning characters

The sequel for “The Devil Wears Prada,” currently in production, has just expanded its star-studded roster by adding 10 more top-tier actors.

According to Variety, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and Kenneth Branagh are set to join forces with Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, and Pauline Chalamet in unspecified roles for a new project.

To further list the performers, comedy artist Caleb Hearon, as well as Broadway performers Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora, have been scheduled to take part too.

Just as I’m thrilled to bits, I couldn’t help but share the news when Simone Ashley, famously recognized for her roles in Bridgerton and Picture This, reposted Deadline’s casting announcement on her Instagram.

In the eagerly awaited follow-up, a mix of fresh and familiar characters will be featured. Among them is Tracie Thoms reprising her role as Lily, Andy’s enthusiastic friend with a penchant for handbags, and Tibor Feldman returning as Irv Ravitz, the chairman of Elias-Clark from the original movie.

In the upcoming sequel, you won’t see Adrian Grenier, who previously portrayed Andy’s (Hathaway) partner, Nate. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, he is not planned to make a comeback.

It’s uncertain what happened to Nate’s character, but considering that the initial episode concluded with him parting ways with Andy and taking a position in Boston, it seems plausible that he has been removed from the storyline.

Currently, specifics about “The Devil Wears Prada 2” are being kept secret, but it’s set to hit the big screen on May 1, 2026. The original director, David Frankel, will be returning to direct, and Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter from the 2006 film, is working on the script again.

In the upcoming sequel, it hasn’t been officially revealed, but it appears that Miranda Priestly, portrayed by Meryl Streep, will face challenges as magazine publishing wanes, while encountering friction with her ex-assistant Emily Charlton, now a high-ranking executive at an elite advertising firm, played by Emily Blunt.

The Devil Wears Prada sequel will be released on 1 May 2026.
