The highly acclaimed Primetime Emmy award-winning television series, Slow Horses, which is adapted from Mick Herron’s novels, has been granted another season – the seventh one!
Two months before the release of series five, Apple TV+ officially confirmed that Gary Oldman’s character Jackson Lamb and his group of struggling spies will resume their duties at Slough House in a seventh season, inspired by the 2022 novel “Bad Actors” by Mick Herron.
Intriguing title reveal for the seventh season of the much-praised suspense drama, featuring Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, and Saskia Reeves: Lamb and his team in “Slow Horses” are on a mission to root out and eliminate a spy within the core of the British Government before they can cause catastrophic damage.
As of now, a definite launch date hasn’t been set, but eager fans can anticipate the premiere of season five on September 24, 2025. Excitingly, season six has already finished filming (as reported by Deadline)).
In light of the announcement for season seven, Jay Hunt, Creative Director of Apple TV+ Europe, expressed delight, stating that “Slow Horses” has captivated audiences globally with its distinctive blend of dry British wit and pulse-pounding action.
This year, as reported by Deadline, it’s anticipated that filming for season seven will start in the United Kingdom around late September or early October.
For now, the cast will shift their attention towards marketing the fifth season, inspired by Herron’s 2018 novel “London Rules”. Besides regular faces like Nick Mohammed, who has previously acted in “Ted Lasso” and “Deep Cover”, is also expected to join the crew.
According to the summary, the characters in Slow Horses will grow suspicious after Roddy Ho announces his glamorous new girlfriend, and as a series of strange incidents start unfolding throughout London, it falls upon Lamb and his group to unravel the connections between these events.
For season six, the upcoming installment is based on two books by Herron – “Joe Country” from 2019 and “Slough House” from 2021. This new season will put the Slow Horses in a dangerous situation as they become entangled in a deadly game of retribution and revenge orchestrated by Diana Taverner.
Slow Horses season five will premiere on Apple TV+ on September 24, 2025.
