Peaky Blinders star drops out of The Odyssey – here’s who is replacing him
Actor Cosmo Jarvis, known for his roles in Shogun and Peaky Blinders, recently withdrew from Christopher Nolan’s movie adaptation of The Odyssey just prior to the start of filming.
Originally cast as a character in Nolan’s upcoming epic, but due to scheduling issues, the actor who portrayed Barney in Peaky Blinders series 5, has had to withdraw from the project. In his place, Logan Marshall-Green, famously known for his roles in Prometheus and The Defeated, will be stepping into the role (as reported by Deadline).
In December, it was announced that an upcoming film by director Nolan will be a cinematic interpretation of the classic Greek epic poem, traditionally ascribed to Homer. Matt Damon has been cast as Odysseus in this production.

In a reinterpretation, Oppenheimer’s character assumes the role of the Greek King of Ithaca, Odysseus, who bravely sets sail on a risky voyage to return to his beloved wife Penelope following the end of the Trojan War.
As the story unfolds, the main character meets legendary creatures such as captivating Sirens and sorceress-deity Circe, portrayed by Charlize Theron.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement about this upcoming adventure! With the legendary Tom Holland stepping into the role of Telemachus, Odysseus’s son, it already feels like a dream come true. But wait, there’s more! The roster of stars yet to be unveiled promises an epic lineup that’ll surely make this journey unforgettable.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m always excited to learn about celebrities who share my passion for immersive experiences, like Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson. Known for their roles in Nolan’s masterpieces, Interstellar and Tenet, they’ve both dived deep into the intriguing world of storytelling that we all love.
The ensemble is completed by Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, and Mia Goth among others.
At the moment, the movie is being filmed in various spots across Morocco, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. It’s scheduled to hit theaters in 2026.
Currently, the official means to view The Odyssey is only in movie theaters. A sneak peek of Nolan’s latest production is being previewed before Jurassic World: Rebirth in selected cinemas globally. However, it’s unavoidable that this trailer has found its way onto various social media platforms.
The Odyssey is released in the UK on July 17, 2026. A UK release date has not been confirmed.
