KIIS FM stars Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson facing charges over wild Erin Patterson trial comments in on-air outburst

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, popular radio hosts, find themselves facing criticism due to remarks they made regarding the court case of Erin Patterson, a convicted mushroom killer.

On Monday, it was determined that Patterson had committed murder by feeding her three in-laws deadly death cap mushrooms hidden in a beef Wellington dish they ate for lunch in 2023.

During the prominent court case, Supreme Court of Victoria Justice Christopher Beale referred to remarks made by KIIS FM personalities on the Kyle and Jackie O Show before announcing the decision.

On June 16, during a live broadcast, Sandilands and Henderson talked about the ongoing trial. At one point, Sandilands made a comment about Patterson, saying, “Simply put her in prison.

Justice Beale made it clear that he intends to submit the radio hosts to the Office of Public Prosecutions, potentially leading to charges against them for alleged court contempt due to their remarks.

This morning, the hosts of the Kyle and Jackie O radio program discussed this matter in a fresh segment of their broadcast, as stated by Justice Beale at that point in time.

He added, “I’ve gone through the recording of their comments. My advice is for commentators to think carefully before speaking, because if they don’t, they might unintentionally cause trouble not only for themselves but also for their respective institutions.

I plan on bringing this morning’s issue to the attention of the Office of Public Prosecutions, initiating a contempt case.

In the heated debate, Sandilands and Henderson talked about the ongoing trial while the jury was about to deliver its decision.

Henderson wondered aloud, ‘What does the data suggest? I’m curious about the strength of her argument.’

‘Not strong, not strong for her,’ Sandilands replied.

In the heavily censored recording, he subsequently said: ‘Everyone else is aware… Come on buddy… Just secure that woman up.’

The verdict in the Erin Patterson trial ends one of the nation’s most intriguing homicide cases.

During her 10-week court case, Patterson maintained a stance of unyielding composure, casting scornful looks towards the press, spectators, and relatives of the individuals she coldly killed.

The woman with two children entered a plea of innocence for the killings of Don and Gail Patterson, as well as Heather Wilkinson, Gail’s sibling.

On a fateful day, July 29, 2023, I partook in a lethal meal at Patterson’s Leongatha home in southeast Victoria – the beef Wellington turned out to be laced with death caps. The consequences were dire, and I paid the ultimate price.

In the end, only Pastor Ian Wilkinson emerged unscathed from his scheme – a mistake that author Patterson would come to rue severely. He has since been sentenced to serve time following his conviction not just for surviving the plot, but also for attempting to take Patterson’s life.

In my role as the foreperson of the jury, I solemnly declared our unanimous decision: ‘We find him guilty.’ As one of just five women on the initial panel of fifteen, it was an honor to contribute to a verdict that weighed heavily in the pursuit of justice.

The decision in the courtroom caused a noticeable intake of breath from those present, among them being members of the Patterson family.
