Maya Jama sparks feud with KSI and Sidemen as she makes offhand dig about their private school past

I’ve found myself unwittingly stirring up some tension between KSI and his crew, the Sidemen, following a casual jab I made about their alma mater.

On “The Chunkz Show”, hosted by her friend Chunkz, the Love Island presenter (age 30) casually mentioned something that later escalated into a heated exchange between her and some popular YouTubers.

In the course of her appearance on the podcast a month ago, Maya was posed a question about her preference: Beta Squad or Sidemen, two competitive British groups consisting of YouTube creators, social media influencers, and online celebrities.

Maya affirmed that she finds Beta Squad, where her friend Chunkz belongs, more appealing than the Sidemen group, consisting of KSI, Josh Bradley, Simon Minter, Tobi Brown, Ethan Payne, Vikram Barn and Harry Lewis.

She shared with her friend, “To me, Beta Squad is quite evident. I’m much more familiar with that group. I have a good rapport with both Tobi and KSI, but I don’t know the others as well. They’re more like…

To which Chunkz, real name Amin Mohamed, interjected: ‘Not your kind of people.’

Later on, Maya commented: “Just as you mentioned, they attended a private school and had a unique upbringing compared to us. I must say, they have excelled exceptionally, given their affluent background.

In response to Maya’s remarks about The Sidemen’s background in a private school and their wealth, the group felt strongly enough to address these comments on their own podcast, expressing their dissatisfaction with her statements.

During the conversation’s initiation by KSI, he mentioned, “Let’s delve into the Maya Jama topic,” at this point, Ethan joined in with a passionate critique of the Love Island star.

He fumed: ‘”Congrats on making it from being rich”. Shut up! You’ve never uttered a word to me!’

Later, he began sharing an account with Maya, explaining how his father was involved in drug dealing and that he himself had also engaged in such activities. His message to Maya was clear: ‘Let’s not jump to conclusions!’

Fare thee well.’

The podcast heard KSI acknowledge that he and Simon were the ones who attended a private school, highlighting the fact that both of their parents worked multiple jobs in order to cover the tuition costs.

He continued by stating: ‘We didn’t simply find ourselves in this situation; we’ve put in a tremendous amount of effort to reach it.’

In the spirit of transparency, the discomfort didn’t merely cease with my initial reaction; it escalated when I felt compelled to address the remarks and challenge Ethan’s sharp criticism directed at me.

Responding to the comments on TikTok, she said, “Given that you’re podcasters, you should understand context better than most. So why the upset?

When someone inquired about my preference, I made it clear that I don’t personally know you. Earlier in our conversation, Chunks had mentioned attending a private school, and I simply commented ‘congratulations on being well-off,’ not implying any personal wealth.

Taking aim at Ethan’s swipe at her, she concluded: ‘Mind how you’re talking though Ethan.’
