In the United Kingdom, you can now stream all four romantic alien series titled “Roswell, New Mexico” without any charge across all seasons.
Prior to Edward Cullen and Bella Swan gracing the screens in the supernatural romance series, The Twilight Saga, Roswell was the go-to show for those captivated by a dramatic interspecies romance.
Originally based on the “Roswell High” book series by Melinda Metz, the 1990s TV show featuring Shiri Appleby and Katherine Heigl was later reimagined as “Roswell, New Mexico,” a series that aired from 2019 to 2022 for four seasons.
52 episodes from the rebooted series can now be streamed on ITVX, climbing up to become the third most popular TV content viewed on their platform, delighting many viewers.
Initially, Roswell, New Mexico garnered mixed responses during its debut season, earning an approval rating of 55% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 20 critic’s reviews. However, the subsequent seasons significantly improved, achieving a flawless 100% score from five reviews on the same platform.
The second season is being acclaimed as thrilling, intense, and filled with suspenseful twists by Forbes, who labeled it phenomenal. On the other hand, The Arts Desk found the alien strangeness to be most entertaining when viewed as a fun, escapist diversion.
In the new version of Roswell, Heigl appeared, who later became well-known for her role as Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy. Similarly, the reboot included Jeanine Mason, an actor known for their long-term involvement in a medical drama.
In a different role, the actor known for portraying Sam Bello on Grey’s, now stars as Liz Ortecho, the new main character. An exceptionally talented biomedical researcher, Liz happens to be the child of undocumented immigrants, and her life takes an unexpected turn when she learns that her teenage crush is actually an extraterrestrial being.
In the new version, the characters appear older than they were in the initial portrayal, as the original primarily took place during high school.
In addition to Liz, played by no other than Rosa Ortega in Roswell, New Mexico, we also see Nathan Dean embodying Max Evans, her old crush who has grown up to become the town’s deputy sheriff. Meanwhile, Lily Cowles and Michael Vlamis take on the roles of Isobel and the wandering alien named Michael Guerin respectively.
In a scene set as a flashback, Amber Midthunder, known for her role in Prey, portrays Liz’s elder sister Rosa. It’s suggested that Rosa met with an enigmatic car accident, one that could possibly implicate Max, but the specifics remain unclear.
Roswell, New Mexico seasons 1-4 are available to stream now on ITVX.
