Josh Duhamel Reunites With Call of Duty Co-Star in New Thriller
Since the launch of its inaugural video game in 2003, the Call of Duty series continues to thrive, with fans anxiously anticipating the upcoming Black Ops 7. Over the past decade, each new installment has raised the bar. Notably, actor Josh Duhamel (Ransom Canyon) and renowned Ecuadorian actress Maria Elisa Camargo have both lent their talents to Call of Duty: WWII (2017) and, more recently, to Warfare II (2022) and Warzone 2.0 (2023). The involvement of Hollywood stars in popular video games is an exciting bonus, and it’s intriguing that both Duhamel and Camargo can now be found in a live-action thriller released by Lionsgate.
In a conversation during the promotion of “Off the Grid,” MovieWeb chatted with Camargo. In this movie, Duhamel’s protagonist deliberately goes off the grid for reasons related to global safety. Camargo portrays a local shopkeeper who keeps an eye on the solitary figure. The actress shared her experiences in getting acquainted with Duhamel’s previous works before filming “Off the Grid,” under the direction of Johnny Martin.
She shared with MovieWeb, “I recognized him, no doubt, from the Transformers film. I had watched the movie he wrote and directed, Buddy Games, it’s hilarious! I was really looking forward to learning who I would be collaborating with. As a result, I made sure to watch many of Johnny’s movies. I couldn’t believe it when I found out that his last film starred Al Pacino, Nicolas Cage, and John Travolta. I thought to myself, ‘Wow! And you spotted me?’ That was absolutely mind-blowing!
Authentically ‘Off the Grid’
Camargo continued, heaping praise on her Off the Grid co-stars Josh Duhamel and Greg Kinnear…
In an effort to gain insights about Josh and his co-star from the show “Off the Grid“, Greg Kinnear, whom I shared some scenes with, I decided to watch several interviews. It turned out that Josh embodies the same charming personality he displayed in the movie “Buddy Games“. He’s naturally humble and free of any ego, always ready to bring laughter. Simply put, he’s an exceptional individual, incredibly down-to-earth, making him stand out in a crowd. I must admit, I had expected Hollywood to be more intense, but everyone was surprisingly kind and sweet. Greg Kinnear was equally charming and delightful.
In a recent conversation with MovieWeb, director Johnny Martin shared his admiration for “Off the Grid” co-star Josh Duhamel. Martin, who has worked in Hollywood for a long time, noted that Duhamel is similar to the off-grid lifestyle portrayed in the film because he owns a property in Minnesota where he lives without modern conveniences. In fact, when Martin and his partner were writing the script, they specifically had Duhamel in mind, intending to create roles that suited the actors rather than forcing them to fit into predefined characters.
