Crown double bill as Claire Foy goes Dutch with her long-term singer-songwriter boyfriend (well she is a fan of equal pay!)

The Crown star Claire Foy has long been vocal about sexual equality and the gender pay gap.

When she dined out with her longtime partner, it was only natural that they shared the cost of the meal equally.

For the past two years, the actress has been romantically involved with musician Charlie Cunningham. Recently, they were spotted savoring a relaxed dinner at an upscale fish market and renowned seafood restaurant in Highgate, North London last week.

Overjoyed and bursting with excitement, I couldn’t help but feel the rush as I spotted my idols, the captivating duo, walking hand in hand, after Cunningham wrapped up the initial leg of his North American tour. The sight of them exchanging tender kisses during their meal was like a beautiful melody to my fangirl heart, confirming once again that they truly belong together.

When it was time to settle the bill, they both pulled out their bank cards and split the cost evenly – covering two glasses of rosé among other things – followed by an enchanting evening stroll along Hampstead Heath under the sunset. Both were dressed comfortably in T-shirts, with Claire carrying a bright yellow bag.

In 2018, news outlets buzzed as the actress disclosed that she was earning less than her fellow actor, Matt Smith, on The Crown. This was despite her portrayal of a crucial role – the young Queen Elizabeth II, who served as the central figure in the Netflix series.

Later on, she was given an apology and an unspecified sum of money, rumored to be as much as £200,000, in back pay. ‘I had been involved with that production for two years,’ she later disclosed. ‘Everyone there was great, and I truly enjoyed working with them. But then I discovered a substantial, hidden issue that no one ever spoke of before.’

In the first two seasons of the popular drama, it’s said that Foy earned approximately £29,000 per episode. On the other hand, the amount Smith received for playing the Duke of Edinburgh has never been disclosed. Producers defended the pay gap by stating that Foy was more recognized at the time due to his role in Doctor Who.

In response to Claire’s call for equal pay, Smith stated, “Claire is not only a dear friend but also a colleague whom I deeply respect. I firmly believe in fairness and equality, and it’s crucial that we receive equal compensation for our work.

In July 2023, Foy and Cunningham were seen together publicly for the first time. This marks her initial public romantic involvement since her split from Stephen Campbell Moore, the father of her daughter Ivy Rose, which occurred in 2018.

The profession of this pair frequently keeps them separated due to their busy schedules. Specifically, London-originated Cunningham has an upcoming tour that spans multiple cities in Europe and Canada over the coming months, whereas Foy is currently engaged in filming H Is For Hawk, a biographical drama, alongside Brendan Gleeson.

Additionally, she will make appearances in a star-studded version of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree and a darkly humorous film titled Savage House, sharing screen time with Richard E. Grant.
