The Bear Season 4 Finally Shows Why Carmy & Claire Should Stay Apart For Good
WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for The Bear season 4.
In the just-revealed Season 5 of FX’s “The Bear,” it became clear that it might not be wise for Carmy and Claire to reconcile. Their relationship, which started in Season 2, was hampered by Carmy’s self-destructive habits that undermined their true bond.
With the announcement of The Bear‘s fifth season, some fans might ponder if Carmy and Claire will formally reconcile, considering their growing bond in season 4. Nevertheless, given what transpires at the end of The Bear season 4, it seems wiser for them to maintain a friendship instead.
The Bear Season 4 Proved That Claire Can Exist In The Show Without Being Connected To Carmy
Claire Found A Connection With Sydney During Her Father’s Medical Event
In the fourth season of “The Bear,” Claire truly shone in her most impactful role within the series, and it was not limited to being Carmy’s girlfriend. Portraying Claire at work and developing her as an individual character outside of her relationship with Carmy highlights her potential to become a strong solo character in season 5.
Claire lent a hand to Richie’s daughter Eva during the wedding episode and felt right at home despite Carmy’s absence. This was evidence that she has a personal bond with Richie and the broader Berzatto clan, as they share a long history; having grown up on the same street together.
It’s only natural that viewers ponder if Claire might eventually give another chance to Carmy in their relationship. However, considering Carmy’s turbulent past, it seems Claire will need to choose a path that serves her and her future interests best. Carmy is eager to experience life beyond the restaurant, which doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to be with Claire anymore.
In simple terms, during the wedding episode of The Bear season 4, it’s clear that Claire and Carmy share a deep bond and mutual understanding. Initially, Carmy might have been instrumental in introducing Claire as a significant character on The Bear, but now, their romantic tension (will they, won’t they) isn’t necessary to keep her role interesting in the series.
Why Having Carmy & Claire Get Back Together In The Bear Season 5 Would Be A Mistake
It Would Undermine Claire’s Character Growth & Avoid Teaching Carmy A Hard Lesson About Love
In the upcoming season 5 of The Bear, it might be enjoyable to see a romantic relationship between Claire and Carmy, yet it would be more suitable for their characters to develop a strong friendship while pursuing their individual paths. Maintaining their connection without rekindling the romance could help advance Claire’s character development better.
Claire serves as a mirror, exposing some of Carmy’s deep-seated emotional challenges and past traumas. For her character to fully blossom, it is essential that she takes the higher ground in their relationship, offering Carmy a challenging lesson he can use in any future relationships depicted in The Bear.
