T1 has a difficult match vs CFO, still advance to the semis of LoL MSI 2025

Once more, the World Champions displayed the passion of their supporters, playing with all their might. In a thrilling turn of events, the CTBC Flying Oyster almost clinched victory. Indeed, for the Flying Oyster team, this was an outstanding display of skill and determination!

As we draw near to the zenith of thrill at the Mid Season Invitational 2025 (MSI 2025) for League of Legends (LoL) esports, we’ve seen the initial Bracket Stage matches featuring all eight competitors. Some squads have advanced comfortably into the upper semifinals, yet T1 finds themselves in a more challenging position.

The LCP’s champions, the CFO team, proved to be formidable adversaries. They quickly took the lead in points and came very near to wrapping up the series during game 4.

Over the last while, particularly during the LCK Road to MSI playoff stage, Team T1 has an unusual custom: they begin gradually, approach the brink of elimination, and then unleash their full potential. In essence, this was the blueprint for T1’s initial match at MSI 2024.

T1 vs CFO at League of Legends MSI 2025, Brackets Stage Round 1

In the style of other preliminary matches during MSI 2025 Brackets Stage, such as Gen.G versus G2, this one wasn’t a do-or-die encounter. T1 and CFO were battling to move forward to the upper semifinals, which is quite an impressive feat, being only three steps away from the championship. Nevertheless, should either team lose, they still hold hope for reaching the grand final; it just requires one additional match.

Match recap

Before this game, many anticipated that T1 would easily take control and swiftly advance to confront their upcoming rivals. This expectation was mirrored in the odds presented by well-known League of Legends betting sites. Yet, T1 left their supporters anxious.

Game 1 exhibited a dynamic back-and-forth flow as both teams showcased impressive bursts of strength. At one stage, it seemed like Team CFO was gaining momentum and building an unstoppable lead towards victory. However, Team T1 responded swiftly and effectively to reclaim their winning edge.

In games 2 and 3, it was the CFO who gradually gained momentum and ultimately established an insurmountable lead.

In game 3, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) was ahead with a substantial gold advantage before the 5-minute mark, and they skillfully saw it through to its natural conclusion.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) might have concluded the sequence then, but it didn’t play out that way. Despite Team 1 maintaining a significant advantage in Game 4 from the beginning, their control over the game deteriorated significantly around the 27th minute.

Still, CFO missed their chance, so T1 regained control and saved the series.

In the opening round of League of Legends Esports MSI 2025, the pivotal matchup between T1 and CFO offered a glimmer of optimism for the LCP team. However, T1 managed to establish a strong position in the mid-game and maintained their advantage throughout.

The upper semifinal and an elimination match: T1 vs BLG; CFO vs KOI

As victors, T1 moves forward to confront BLG in the following upper bracket match: this is because BLG outplayed KOI. Notably, Bilibili Gaming has been part of the MSI for an extended period. The Chinese team concluded their regional division in the second place, therefore, they commenced from the Play-In stage — and secured decisive victories over GAM and G2.

For a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), there is no room left for errors as they now find themselves in the elimination phase of the MSI 2025 lower brackets. The CTBC Flying Oyster are set to compete against the European League of Legends team, KOI, in the first round of the lower stages.

Given CFO’s impressive performance against T1, it’s clear that they are a force to be reckoned with, making them a team worth watching closely.

On July 5th, the opening match will be between CFO and KOI, while the second contest of the day for the MSI 2025 tournament will feature a battle between T1 and BLG.
