Jessica Simpson slips back into Daisy Dukes following 100-lb weight loss
Jessica Simpson left her followers utterly amazed as she replicated one of her iconic outfits from the past.
44-year-old me, promoting my Jessica Simpson Collection, found myself reminiscent of my iconic character, Daisy Duke, from The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) as I struck poses in a leopard tank top and cutoff denim shorts. The resemblance was undeniable!
Immediately following the posting of her brand’s photo last week, many social media users rushed to comment, expressing their awe at her seemingly unchanged appearance.
‘Daisy Duke, is that you?’ one wrote underneath the photo.
Another excited fan gushed that the mother-of-three looked like a ‘supermodel.’
Another individual asserted that she appeared more attractive than she did in her 2006 film, “Employee of the Month.
Over a period spanning over twenty years in the public eye, Simpson has consistently spoken openly about her struggle with constant weight fluctuations and excessive exercise aimed at keeping her body shape varied.
As I reminisce on my incredible weight loss journey, a transformation that led me to shed an astounding 100 pounds from my previous weight of 260 during my precious daughter Birdie Mae’s pregnancy, I can’t help but share the profound insights I’ve gained. You see, I found solace and acceptance in my body after recognizing that my role in Dukes of Hazzard had subconsciously set an unattainable ‘gold standard’ for my physical form.
Ever since I showcased my striking legs in those ultra-short shorts, reminiscent of Daisy Duke, the mother of three that I am has had images from that movie used as a point of comparison in every ‘is she fat or is she thin?’ article throughout the rest of my career.
At the age of 24, Simpson found herself in Hollywood, making her debut in a well-known 2005 comedy. It was then that she allegedly decided to get fit before filming, as she became aware that her ‘posterior’ would be prominently displayed on screens as high as 50 feet.
After learning she had secured the role, the entrepreneur, who was signed to Columbia Records at just a teenager, immediately rushed to the gym.
In 2005, she expressed to People magazine, “If any character has a pair of shorts named after her, you should strive to style those shorts as well as you can.
She went on to say: ‘Since I didn’t have a backside, I did numerous squats… I can’t deny myself treats because that leads me to fixate on them and eventually overindulge. I monitored my eating habits and visited the gym to hold my head high. My body is most certainly something I’m proud of,’ she shared.
To lose weight, she followed the South Beach Diet, a low-carb, protein-rich eating plan that was developed in 2003 by Dr. Arthur Agatston.

At this time, she mostly consumed grilled chicken, fish, and green vegetables.
Apart from maintaining a mostly healthy diet with only occasional indulgences, she was regularly exercising with Alexander for about two hours each day, five out of seven days in a week.
The intense training sessions started a month prior to the filming, happening about three to four times each week while filming was ongoing.
Following her separation from Nick Lachey after almost four years of wedlock, she faced criticism regarding her fuller physique during her performance at the 2009 Chili Cookoff in Florida.
Approximately half a year afterward, her noticeable increase in body weight sparked discussions among fans following her performance of the national anthem at the ATT Golf Tournament.

In reply, she expressed her viewpoint that it’s unfair for women to gaze at their reflection with distaste due to societal beliefs about aesthetics.
In a 2009 interview with Glamour, she said, ‘I’ve experienced it personally and I know the challenges. We’re all dealing with similar difficulties, regardless of whether you’re famous or not.’
At that moment, her former spouse publicly defended her by stating to the Associated Press that it was absurd for the media to overemphasize concerns about her weight gain.
He stated, at the time, that it’s surprising such news is grabbing attention. However, one should not blindly trust all news or articles in the media. All I want for her is happiness.

At a gathering in 2010, a mutual friend brought Simpson together with her current spouse, Eric Johnson, when she was facing criticism about her physique on social media.
Within six months, the lovebirds announced they were engaged in November 2010.
One year past, she gracefully displayed her growing belly during pregnancy with their firstborn, gracing the April edition of Elle magazine.
She also revealed the idea to pose completely nude was her decision.
She informed Seacrest on his 2012 radio show, saying, “They didn’t request it from me, but it was actually my own thought. It felt like something I naturally wanted to accomplish.
Currently, I weigh about 170 pounds, but I had the desire to model nude. My goal is to reduce my weight to around 110 pounds. It’s amusing that I feel most confident at my heaviest weight. I take great pride in being a mother and adore my body more than ever now.
During her pregnancy with Maxwell Drew, who is now ten years old, she clarified on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she had initially anticipated having just one baby, contradicting speculations that she would give birth to twins.
She informed the host, chuckling, ‘It might be hard to believe, but there is just one girl here. However, let me clarify that I was romantically involved with a tall and athletic football player – he stands at about 6 feet 4 inches tall.’

Following the birth of Maxwell, Simpson became a Weight Watchers spokesperson.
She credited the points system weight loss program with helping her lose 60 pounds.
Upon welcoming Maxwell, I unexpectedly put on more weight than anticipated, as shared with MomFeeds blog. The prospect of shedding those extra pounds was daunting. The mere act of standing on a scale and witnessing that figure was quite terrifying for me.
Within a year, she was expecting her second child, a baby boy name Ace.
During an interview with USA Today, she mentioned, “I relaxed and lounged with Maxwell. It was a rare moment in my life where I didn’t need to worry about my diet.
During her second pregnancy, the former singer-turned-entrepreneur shared with People that she managed to gain just about half as much weight as she did during her initial pregnancy, thanks to maintaining a workout routine three times a week.

During my first pregnancy, I allowed myself to relax a lot more about what I ate. I felt as though I could indulge in any food I desired,” she reminisced.
Following her son’s birth, she resumed her role as a Weight Watchers spokesmodel.
In her memoir “Open Book”, she shared that she had lost weight to 107 pounds in the year 2015, prior to having a partial tummy tuck as a personal celebration for turning 35.
As a devoted admirer, allow me to share her perspective: “Contrary to popular belief, the operation wasn’t about losing weight. At the time, I weighed a mere 107 pounds, a fact I had carefully planned before undergoing surgery. What I yearned for was a solution to eliminate the unsightly stretch marks and the excess, sagging skin that lingered as reminders of my back-to-back pregnancies.

In 2019, Simpson became pregnant with her third child, Birdie Mae, and ‘reached 260lbs.’
Her increase in weight led her to discard her scale, humorously implying that she might have indulged in a box of Milk Duds for breakfast and a chocolate donut during an appearance on The Today Show.
She shared that compared to her husband, a professional NFL player, she was significantly heavier. Consequently, during her pregnancy, she experienced considerable difficulty. Given her petite stature of about 5 feet 4 inches, carrying around 260 pounds was an immense burden for her.
To shed the excess pounds, she collaborated with trainer Harley Pasternak and followed a plan that eventually had her burning approximately 14,000 calories daily, as reported by E! News.
Additionally, she visited a dietitian to adjust her eating pattern, and she started adhering to Harley’s Body Reset Nutritional Program, which consists of three main meals and additional smoothies and snacks throughout the day, aiming to maintain a healthy metabolism.

She shared with People magazine in April, “I always honor my body, and the fact that it brought children into this world is beyond belief…yet it never seems to fit back into old clothes again. It’s incredible! A woman’s body is truly amazing in its capabilities.
She went on to say: ‘I hadn’t considered donning a bikini once more, as my body had expanded to the size of a sofa.’
After putting on the swimsuit, the performer expressed that she discovered renewed self-assurance. She expressed her hope that her audience would also experience this boost in confidence when thinking about their personal accomplishments.
She expressed that you should be pleased with yourself, for it’s well-deserved, and as you grow to understand yourself better, your self-confidence will shine, opening up endless possibilities.
