The sci-fi thriller featuring Jason Mantzoukas, who is known for his role on Taskmaster, titled Infinite, has started gaining global attention following its addition to Netflix.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about an upcoming film that stars Mark Wahlberg alongside Liz Carr from “Silent Witness.” This captivating production is adapted from D Eric Maikranz’s novel, “The Reincarnationist Papers,” and it delves into the intriguing tale of a man who begins to perceive his hallucinations as memories from previous lives.
Currently, after being added to the streaming service, “Infinite” ranks as the fourth most-viewed movie globally. It trails only behind the “Old Guard” films and “KPop Demon Hunters.
Although it has gained significant attention, the movie received mostly negative reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it scored a mere 17%, and _The Hollywood Reporter_ labeled it as “devoid of soul” or “a tiresome endeavor.
Antoine Fuqua’s sci-fi thriller is packed with continuous CGI-amplified chase scenes and fight sequences, intermittent with intense technical jargon. Unfortunately, the film isn’t significantly improved by Mark Wahlberg’s relatively expressionless performance.
The Guardian described it as a “dull, uninspired creation born from a committee, devoid of creativity and originality, destined to be forgotten.
The narrative primarily revolves around Evan McCauley, portrayed by Wahlberg, as he uncovers that there are others like him, known as ‘Infinites’. This group splits into two factions: Believers, who aspire to improve the world, and Nihilists, who view their reincarnation as a curse and aim to put an end to it by eradicating themselves.
Joining Wahlberg, Mantzoukas, and Carr in the cast are Dylan O’Brien from “Teen Wolf”, Chiwetel Ejiofor of “Bridget Jones”, Sophie Cookson known for “Kingsman”, and Toby Jones who starred in “Mr. Bates vs The Post Office”.
Infinite is available to stream now on Netflix.
