After The Outcome Of Diddy’s Trial, His Lawyers Open Up About The Verdict And Why They’re ‘Just Getting Started’
For more than a year now, people have been following the legal troubles of P. Diddy intensely, since federal authorities raided his homes in March 2024, discovering approximately 1,000 bottles of baby oil among other items. Although Sean Combs was found not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, his legal team has made it clear that the battle is far from over, as they’ve addressed the verdict and what lies ahead.
In less than two months from the commencement of the music tycoon’s trial, the jury announced their verdict on July 2, marking the third day of their deliberations. This was a significant victory for the defense, particularly because Diddy was found not guilty of racketeering – the most severe charge. However, he was still convicted on two charges related to transporting individuals for prostitution. In a press conference outside the New York courtroom, attorney Marc Agnifilo declared his intent to persist in fighting for his client, as reported by US Weekly.
Today marks a significant triumph. This triumph is a remarkable achievement for Sean Combs and a testament to the effectiveness of our jury system. Our battles are far from over. In fact, we’re only warming up to more challenges ahead.
Apart from Diddy himself, other lawyers on his defense team also addressed the court. Teny Geragos expressed gratitude towards the jury, staff at the Metropolitan Detention Center, and everyone else involved, stating that they have finally been validated in upholding their client’s innocence. In simpler terms, Geragos thanked everyone for their role in proving Diddy was not guilty.
It’s been consistently stated for months now that Sean Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone. This statement has been made in response to every lawsuit that surfaced, and today, its accuracy was confirmed.
Attorney Brian Steel added to that, saying:
I’d like to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your presence, and for honestly portraying a case where a man was unfairly accused and tried for many crimes. Thank you!
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but reflect on the recent legal predicament I found myself entangled in. Though I steered clear of the gravest offenses, I was unfortunately convicted for facilitating acts associated with prostitution, involving my former partner Cassie Ventura and an anonymous individual known as “Jane.” Each of these charges could potentially land me a 20-year sentence behind bars.
According to ABC, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian has decided to advance the sentencing date from October 3 to July 8 for further discussions on the pre-sentencing process. However, during this time, Diddy will continue to serve his prison term prior to his sentencing.
The judge cited the defense’s own closing argument in his decision not to release Sean Combs:
In your final statement, you emphatically emphasized to the jury that there was indeed an instance of violence occurring here. It’s important to note that domestic violence is a form of violence, and in this particular case, such an occurrence was present.
He brought up the controversial video showing Diddy attacking his former partner, describing it as vividly illustrating the defendant’s tendency towards violence. The judge ultimately decided that:
It is impossible for the defendant to demonstrate… that he poses no danger to the community.
Despite returning to allegedly unsanitary living conditions at the MDC, lawyer Marc Agnifilo asserts that P. Diddy’s situation represents a victory overall, and they will persist in their efforts to secure his release. The attorney commented on this matter as follows:
Today marked a significant stride towards the correct path. We persist in our efforts and will ultimately prevail, ensuring that he regains his freedom and reunites with his loved ones.
The legal parties are set to meet again next week for the discussion on sentencing. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether a new date will be determined during that meeting.
