Controversial “intense” thriller with an “unhinged first act” gets new UK streaming home
Controversial thriller The Hunt has landed a new streaming home in the UK.
In the year 2020, a film is released, featuring Betty Gilpin from GLOW, Hilary Swank, an Oscar-winning actress, and Emma Roberts from American Horror Story. This movie tells the story of an elite group who abduct and pursue common people from the working class.
Good news for fans in the UK and Ireland! You can now stream “The Hunt” on Amazon Prime Video, as it was added to their catalog yesterday.

According to Variety, the film was described as an intense and exaggerated portrayal of political extremism, pushed to its absolute limit. On the other hand, IndieWire mentioned that the movie’s initial segment is particularly wild or uncontrolled.
I eagerly anticipated the release of “The Hunt” back in 2019, but unfortunately, it got postponed by half a year because of a series of tragic mass shootings that took place in the United States.
Additionally, it faced criticism from President Donald Trump during his initial term, as he accused liberals of conspiring to hunt conservatives for entertainment – a claim that was subsequently lampooned by the film’s promotional material.
Co-writer Damon Lindelof stated to The Hollywood Reporter that it was likely the most criticized film in history, yet many of its critics had never even watched it.
Since we couldn’t prevail in the discussion about that project, we chose, in partnership with Universal, to remove the film from our release schedule.
It appears that no one who has watched the film has labeled it as provocative. This suggests that the viewers are intelligent enough to recognize that what they’re observing is actually a form of satire, and finding it absurd might be a more accurate response.
He commented: “We believe viewers will find it enjoyable, and perhaps it can shed light on a significant issue in our nation – the fact that we’re divided. Interestingly, this film might unexpectedly foster unity among people.
The Hunt is available to stream now in the UK and Ireland on Prime Video.
The latest edition of Digital Spy’s print issue is available! You can purchase the “Oasis – Live in ’25” magazine from newsstands or online for only £8.99.
