Broadchurch star in first look at BBC’s exciting new “fast-paced” Wales-set thriller

The BBC has shared first-look images from a “propulsive” new thriller starring Eve Myles.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the talented actor from Broadchurch is teaming up with Gabrielle Creevy, Sion Daniel Young, and Emun Elliott in The Guest, a gripping four-part series penned by none other than Matthew Barry, known for his exceptional work on Men Up.

This fall, it’s set to air on both BBC iPlayer and BBC One, following a joint commission with BBC Cymru Wales.

The show explores the complex, intriguing dynamic between Fran (Myles), a thriving entrepreneur, and her employee Ria (Creevy).

Initial glimpses of “The Guest” reveal the principal characters portraying their roles distinctly, highlighting the contrast between Ria and Francesca prior to their fates becoming inextricably linked, offering a glimpse into their separate identities before their lives merge.

Ria has never contemplated what she truly desires from life due to lack of time or opportunity. However, when she begins cleaning for Fran, who exudes confidence and self-assurance, Ria finds herself captivated. Fran motivates her to seize control of her own life. As Ria grows and develops, a deep friendship blossoms between the two women.

Yet, if Fran’s counsel results in an astonishing incident, the lives of these two distinct women are bound together by hidden truths and perilous schemes. The ensuing narrative unfolds as a gripping and intriguing dance between a cat and a mouse. But it remains unclear who is the predator and who is the prey in this game.

As a passionate admirer, I’d like to share that “The Guest” is a masterpiece penned and conceived by the talented Barry. In addition to his creative touch, he collaborates as an executive producer alongside Davina Earl, Nicola Shindler, Rebecca Ferguson, and Nick Andrews, making this production a true team effort.

Ashley Way served as both director and executive producer for all episodes of “Men Up”, with Karen Lewis acting as a producer.)

The show was created in collaboration with ITV Studios, who are responsible for global distribution, while The Guest received financial backing from the Welsh Government through their Creative Wales program.

The Guest is coming this autumn to BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and BBC One Wales.

The latest print issue from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is available for purchase! Grab it at your local newsstands or buy it online, currently priced at only £8.99.
