Disney+ Breaks MCU Boundaries with Groundbreaking Time Jump in Phase 6!

Marvel Studios is set to initiate Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with both movie releases in cinemas and series on Disney+. The initial TV show for this phase, titled “Eyes of Wakanda“, will make a significant mark in the MCU timeline by going back in time. Following the conclusion of Phase 5 with “Ironheart”, Phase 6 will commence on streaming platforms with the animated prequel series, “Black Panther” spin-off, called “Eyes of Wakanda“. This series follows the Warriors of Wakanda as they traverse the globe and recover vibranium artifacts.

Marvel has announced an exciting development about the upcoming “Eyes of Wakanda” series, shared at the Annecy Animation Festival in France. This groundbreaking MCU show will delve into a time period yet unseen in any Marvel Studios Disney+ production – 1260 B.C. The narrative will introduce us to Noni (played by Winnie Harlow), a Wakandan secret agent and former Dora Milaje, embarking on a mission to track down ‘The Lion’, who is voiced by Cress Williams.

In the Disney+ series, Eyes of Wakanda, only the first installment is set in 1260 B.C., while the remaining three episodes leap to different centuries and focus on distinct Wakandan characters. The show aims to delve into the transformation of Wakandan culture and technology across multiple eras.

In the world of Wakanda, time travel takes us to an ancient B.C. era – a groundbreaking moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+. However, this is not the earliest point in time that the cinematic universe has ever explored.

These Are the Oldest Time Periods That the MCU Has Explored

13,800,000,000 B.C. – Eternals

The Marvel Cinematic Universe delves into the very roots of life on our planet, tracing back 13.8 billion years to when the Cosmic Entity, Arishem, ignited the Big Bang that eventually led to life’s existence on Earth. It is during this period that Arishem also sowed the germination of another Celestial, Tiamut, deep within Earth’s core. This hidden truth about Tiamut is unveiled in a flashback scene from the movie Eternals.

At approximately the same period, the cosmic singularities present in the universe crystallized into the enigmatic Infinity Stones.

12,800,000,000 B.C. – Guardians of the Galaxy

In a scene from Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s revealed that the Singularities transformed into what we know as the Infinity Stones. In one instance, a Celestial harnessed the Power Stone to obliterate an entire planet in a blink of an eye (or flashback sequence). It was suggested that these powerful beings might have utilized the Power Stone as early as 12,800,000,000 B.C., shortly after the formation of the first planets.

2,500,000 B.C. – Black Panther

2,500,000 B.C., two significant meteorites rich in Vibranium descended near Africa. One landed on the territory that eventually became Wakanda, while another fell into the Atlantic Ocean, powering a future underwater nation, Talokan.

In the film “Black Panther,” we got a glimpse into Wakanda’s ancient past. Yet, if you want to go back even further, to its B.C. era, that’s what you’ll find in the upcoming movie, “Eyes of Wakanda.

5,000 B.C. – Eternals

The film “Eternals” showcases the most ancient beings within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking us on a journey to various historical epochs. In the earliest depiction, around 5,000 B.C., we find these ten powerful Eternals already present on Earth. Their arrival was orchestrated by the Celestials as part of their mission to eliminate the Deviants. This story begins during the Mesopotamian era, where they spent twenty years coexisting, battling against the Deviants before eventually going their separate ways and living out the rest of their lives individually.

2988 B.C. – Thor: The Dark World

In the movie “Thor: The Dark World,” it’s revealed that a significant event took place in the year 2988 B.C., known as the First Battle of Svartalfheim. During this battle, the dark elf Malekith attempted to utilize the Reality Stone with the aim of demolishing the Nine Realms. However, he was defeated. Fast forward to the modern era, in the year 2013, Malekith reappears to carry on his unfinished mission.

79 A.D. – Loki Season 1

The narrative structure of Loki’s storyline involves jumping through various unusual time intervals across two seasons. An early instance of this is set in 79 A.D., where Loki and Mobius utilize the Time Variance Authority’s (TVA) temporal devices to travel back to Pompeii, the year marked by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

800 A.D. – Echo

In a groundbreaking move, “Echo” marked the beginning for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series that explored the ancestry of the Choctaw nation, where Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) is a descendant. The initial episode unfolds the genesis of the Choctaw’s Clay People dating back to 800 A.D., as they emerged at Nanih Waiya.

1147 A.D. – Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The lineage of the Ten Rings dates back over several decades, as depicted in the film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” In this movie, we see Wenwu (played by Tony Leung) commanding his troops against the Seljuk Empire in 1147 A.D., where he utilized the power of these rings to defeat them. Additionally, it was these magical artifacts that granted Wenwu eternal life, allowing him to father Shang-Chi and Xialing during the 20th century.

Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline spans over millennia and delves into many corners of the distant past across numerous films and TV shows, fans interested in the 1260 B.C era should look forward to the release of Eyes of Wakanda, scheduled for August 6.
