Netflix finally adds “insane” and “exhilarating” sequel to one of its best action movies

After a lengthy five-year wait, Netflix has at last unveiled the much-anticipated sequel to The Old Guard, which first graced our screens.

In the follow-up to one of Netflix’s top original action films, Charlize Theron reprises her role as Andy, head of a squad of eternal combatants tasked with safeguarding our planet.

In the film “The Old Guard”, it’s revealed that Andy is no longer immortal. Additionally, Qunyh (Veronica Ngô), an old teammate, seeks revenge, and a new, enigmatic danger arises that could potentially endanger not only Andy but also her entire team.

If you’re eager to find out what happens next, you can catch up with The Old Guard 2 as it’s currently streaming on Netflix. This sequel has just been added to their service for all subscribers to enjoy.

If you’d like to remind yourself or enjoy a twofold dose of action, you could opt for watching the initial film available on Netflix as well.

Before its premiere, Theron hinted that as the action scenes in the initial film were highly acclaimed, they aimed to surpass that level of appreciation in the thrilling sequel.

As a gaming enthusiast excitedly sharing my thoughts about this upcoming movie, I’d say it caters to a wide array of fans. For those who were hooked on the initial film, there are delightful callbacks that will resonate with you. If you’re a fan of the original graphic novels, rest assured, the spirit of those stories is faithfully preserved. But even if you’re new to this universe and seeking high-octane action, authentic characters, stunning backdrops, and an ensemble cast of A-listers from around the globe, you’ve come to the right place!

In the sequel to “The Old Guard,” we find KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor reprising their roles as Nile, Joe, Nicky, Booker, and James respectively, from the original film.

In the upcoming sequel, Henry Golding and Uma Thurman have been cast as prominent figures. Golding takes on the role of Tuah, a long-time friend of the main character Andy, while Thurman portrays Discord, one of the Immortals.

In June through September of 2022, the sequel was filmed, and Charlize Theron attributed the extended wait for its release on Netflix to a transition period happening within the company.

She clarified that they encountered some difficulties, which led to a halt in post-production approximately five weeks in. They were undergoing significant changes, and she empathized with the situation. Eventually, they resumed work, and she’s now quite enthusiastic about it.

The Old Guard 2 is available to watch now on Netflix.

The initial print magazine from Digital Spy is available now! You can purchase “British Comedy Legends” at your local newsstand or online for a special price of only £3.99.
