Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey trailer leaks online from early screenings of Jurassic World: Rebirth
Universal Pictures unveiled the first trailer for their eagerly awaited take on The Odyssey during Jurassic World Rebirth‘s screenings, and now that sneak peek has found its way onto the internet.
An unexpected step has been taken, considering that the movie, which stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, is yet to be fully produced and won’t premiere in theatres until July 17, 2026.
Yet, with expectations of earning over $100 million this weekend, Jurassic World Rebirth stands as the largest upcoming production by the studio for months. Consequently, they chose to debut a sneak peek of The Odyssey alongside it.
It appears that an inferior quality trailer, captured secretly from within a cinema, has surfaced on the internet prematurely, prior to its scheduled release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Christopher Nolan, known for “The Odyssey”, prefers audiences to first watch trailers for his films in cinemas rather than online. He plans to premiere the trailers before the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth” in theaters before they become available online.
To prevent potential spoilers, we’re not sharing the video of the unlawfully obtained trailer that follows. However, for those who wish to watch it independently, please proceed with caution as there will be a description provided.

The opening scene features a mysterious voice discussing the central figure, Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, from the epic tale who, as depicted in the original narrative, yearns to reunite with his beloved Penelope following his triumph in the Trojan War and his long journey home.
In the shadows, the rule of Zeus crumbled. Since my lord passed away, there’s been no king to lead. He realized the battle was lost from the start. Yet miraculously, he emerged victorious, as the narrator tells us.
The short clip provides glimpses of the ocean, accompanied by an impressive-looking statue that seems reminiscent of a colossal Trojan Horse.
As an ardent admirer, let me recount the trailer scene where Jon Bernthal’s enigmatic figure speaks up, saying, “I haven’t a clue about Odysseus, not since Troy stood. And there’s Tom Holland as Telemachus, yearningly questioning, ‘When was the last time you laid eyes on my father?’
Bernthal’s character calls out to the crowd, “Does anyone here have a tale about Odysseus? You do? You do have a story? Some claim he’s wealthy, some say he’s destitute. Some thought he was dead, others believe he’s captive,” while interspersing with random scenes from the movie.
The trailer ends with an old man laying on pieces of driftwood, presumably Damon’s title character.
Beyond what was revealed in the trailer, an illustrious ensemble for The Odyssey boasts the talents of Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Mia Goth.
The movie will mark the highest budget project in Nolan’s filmmaking journey so far, and it will also be the inaugural film ever recorded using only IMAX cameras.

The filming process commenced as early as February, taking place in various countries including Greece, Morocco, Italy, Iceland, and Los Angeles. Additionally, filming is anticipated to occur in Britain, Scotland, and Ireland as well.
Nolan is taking charge as director, drawing inspiration from an ancient poem penned by Homer around the 8th century B.C., which was initially translated into English in 1614.
Two timeless literary masterpieces that have endured through the ages are Homer’s “The Iliad” and “The Odyssey.” Both works hold a significant place in our cultural heritage as recognized classics.
Over time, many interpretations of The Odyssey have been created in various languages. There was also a miniseries from 1997 titled “Odyssey,” starring Armand Assante, and the Coen Brothers’ film “O Brother Where Art Thou” – though not a direct adaptation, it draws inspiration from The Odyssey.
I’m absolutely thrilled! On the 17th of July, 2026, The Odyssey will have its grand premiere, all to itself. Two weeks later, on the 31st of July, 2026, Holland and Bernthal will grace our screens as none other than Spider-Man and Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. I simply can’t wait!
