Watch now! Glen Powell is on the run in action-packed trailer for ’80s thriller remake

Filmmaker Edgar Wright returns with his interpretation of Stephen King’s bleak world in the recently unveiled, pulse-pounding preview for “The Running Man”.

The forthcoming action film is a modern take on the 1987 movie where Arnold Schwarzenegger played the leading role. In this new version, Glen Powell stars as the main character, Ben Richards.

In a world where the U.S. seems more like a nation governed by law enforcement, Ben participates in a popular reality TV show as a means to secure financial independence, prosperity, and safety for his loved ones.

The unique concept of this show, created by Dan Killian, played by Josh Brolin, and presented by Bobby Thompson, involves participants willingly participating in a game where they are pursued by relentless stalkers determined to track them down.

Throughout the live broadcast of a 30-day manhunt, Ben finds himself exposed without any hiding spots, yet he encounters aid from peculiar personalities he crosses paths with during his journey, such as eccentric characters portrayed by Michael Cera and William H Macy.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m absolutely thrilled about this upcoming movie! The star-studded cast is something else; it seems like another magical collaboration between Wright and Cera, who teamed up in the epic 2010 flick “Scott Pilgrim vs The World.” And guess what? This reunion of the Scott Pilgrim crew doesn’t end there! Wright himself co-wrote this movie, “The Running Man,” alongside his writing partner, Michael Bacall – the duo who breathed life into the beloved graphic novel adaptation.

In addition, Jayme Lawson from Sinners plays Ben’s wife Sheila Richards, Lee Pace and Karl Glusman take on the roles of hunters, while Katy O’Brien, known for her role in Love Lies Bleeding, portrays a participant in a Running Man-like contest.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to highlight that Emilia Jones shines as the lead in CODA, finding herself in a harrowing situation as a hostage held captive by Ben. Notably, comedy icon Sean Hayes and rising star Daniel Ezra lend their talents in complementary roles within this engaging narrative.

The preview showcases thrilling feats, as Ben must struggle to escape from a harrowing airplane flight. In a different moment, he is pursued along a high-rise corridor, then slips through an elevator chute, ultimately facing off against a live grenade.

Powell, who seems to be enjoying himself immensely while portraying the character Ben, has demonstrated his knack for action-packed films in several recent productions. These include “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Hitman,” and the sequel to the disaster movie, titled “Twisters.

The Running Man is scheduled to be released on November 7.
