Guy Fieri faces lawsuit from Food Network reality show winner over failed restaurant
Famous chef Guy Fieri is being sued due to a restaurant venture that didn’t succeed, which was established following one of his TV shows.
In the opening days of January 2022, the 57-year-old chef initiated Food Network‘s competition named “Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime.” This contest featured seven chefs competing against each other for an opportunity to manage their own Chicken Guy franchise, one of Fieri’s successful brands.
As an ecstatic fan of culinary arts, I find myself overjoyed to share the news: Yours truly, Kevin Cooper from the vibrant city of Philadelphia, has been crowned the victor! My triumph is even more sweetened by the enticing perks that come with
But wait, there’s more! The franchise fee that usually comes with such opportunities has been generously waived for me, a priceless gesture that I deeply appreciate. Furthermore, a thoughtful provision of $10,000 has been set aside to cover any unforeseen legal expenses that may arise during my journey.
To top it all off, the powers-that-be are offering assistance with the build-out space and operational costs that might exceed revenue in my first year. This support is a beacon of hope for a budding chef like myself, as it allows me to focus on what truly matters: creating delectable dishes that will delight food enthusiasts everywhere. What a time to be alive!
The Cooper’s Chicken Guy franchise made its debut at the King of Prussia Mall near Philadelphia in early February 2024, prior to Guy Fieri announcing his significant 30-pound weight loss. However, the restaurant closed its doors approximately a year and a half later, in late February 2025.
It appears that Philly Mag reports that Cooper has sued Chicken Guy LLC and Earl Enterprises LLC, though a reason for the legal action was not specified.
At present, we haven’t received a response from Fieri’s representatives after reaching out to them through Daily Mail.

The lawsuit claims that Fieri failed to deliver the promised $100,000 annual salary, even after repeated requests for it.
The filing indicates that he always kept his promise by ensuring that the shop’s running costs never surpassed its income.
The lawsuit claims that the total cost amounted to $69,000, out of which a staggering $39,000 was dedicated solely to Pennsylvania sales tax.
The lawsuit aims to recover the $100,000 salary and associated costs, which were pledged as winnings for the reality show competition.
Although Cooper hasn’t explicitly discussed the lawsuit, he recently shared a mysterious video on Instagram on Sunday, in which he mentions that he’s been rather silent on social platforms as of late.
Cooper started off by saying, “I believe you’ve all noticed that I haven’t been too active lately, not only on social platforms, but also in my everyday interactions.
Admittedly, there have been times when silence held its own kind of benefits. At times, I found myself hesitant to express my genuine feelings, as the image of God I inherited from my forebears was different from the one I encountered in my personal reflection.
For quite some time, I chose to remain silent, as I didn’t wish to be seen as yet another African-American individual pointing fingers due to my own injustices.

He also acknowledged that he wasn’t comfortable with a belief system that had been historically utilized to oppress his ancestors, as he continued.
In his own words, he expressed, “Yet it was through the mercy of the genuine and ever-living Deity that I didn’t merely restore health, but granted forgiveness. It was before those shackles that I encountered Christ. It was before those voyages across the sea that I discovered Christ, who walked across Africa.” He further emphasized, “Jesus was not the one who forged chains, but rather the one who shattered them, liberating people from their bondage.
He summarized, ‘I’m not upset, not angry, and I’m not trying to belittle anyone, alright? I’m simply here to inform you all that I am entirely free and now I have something to share, so keep listening. Peace.’
Additionally, Cooper appeared on various Food Network shows such as Cooks vs. Contenders, Guy’s Grocery Games, and Fire Masters on Food Network Canada.
