Julie Chrisley on secret health battle behind bars before Trump pardon

Julie Chrisley speaks out about the challenging circumstances she faced during her over-two-year incarceration.

In 2022, Julie (age 52) and her spouse Todd (age 56) were found guilty of masterminding a $30 million bank fraud and tax evasion case. They’ve been serving extended prison terms for their crimes.

In a special interview on ABC News, which aired on Hulu on Sunday, she expressed concern, saying, “I noticed my health was getting worse.

Julie had been serving sentences in Kentucky up until 2028, while Todd served his time in Florida until 2032. They were both granted clemency a month ago.

Towards the end of May, President Trump himself phoned Savannah Chrisley, who is 27 years old, to tell her that he was going to commute the sentence for their family.

Before being freed, the previous star of USA Network had been detained at the Federal Medical Center located in Lexington, Kentucky.

During her 28 months behind bars she developed asthma.

I was amazed as I chatted with ABC, reflecting on the fact that just a month ago I was in prison, worrying about a sweltering summer without air conditioning, and now I find myself back home.

Savannah, a strong proponent for her parents’ early discharge, had shared the unforgiving circumstances at the Kentucky facility during the previous summer on her Unlocked podcast.

Inside the visitation area, it’s a relief to have air conditioning, however, once you step out of that room, there isn’t any air conditioning at all, and the temperature outside was scorching hot, with a heat index ranging from 105 to 110 degrees.

The worried daughter remarked, ‘That’s the environment mom is enduring, with no air and temperatures reaching as high as 100 degrees within the building.’

Savannah went on to say, ‘She literally said that she got physically sick because she got so hot.

In my professional opinion as a lifestyle expert, I find it utterly baffling that at the very same location where women are succumbing to heat exhaustion due to unbearable conditions, there are service dogs equipped with air-conditioned vests. This blatant disparity between comfort levels is not only illogical but also inhumane. It’s a situation that demands immediate attention and improvement for the wellbeing of all involved.

At a press conference in May, Todd expressed his viewpoint, saying, “If someone claims that the prison system is fair, it certainly isn’t.

During his stay at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola, he noted a disparity in treatment towards younger African-American men. Specifically, they were not given the same considerations as others.

‘They were denied programming. They were denied access to certain things I was not denied.’

The family has announced their intentions to employ their platform to champion for prison reform, and they are currently developing a new reality TV show on Lifetime.

The Chrisleys rose to fame while appearing on the unscripted series Chrisley Knows Best in 2014.
