Although it seems she’s accepting these pursuits in the scenes from A New Era, one can speculate that perhaps every week, Michelle Dockery’s character as the head of Downton household experiences some form of emotional turmoil or struggle.

Thinking persistently about the possibility of losing Henry, similar to how she lost her late husband Matthew, could drive anyone to distraction at the start. Given its immense emotional impact, even the resilient Crawleys might find this challenging – they are usually composed of sturdier material.
