Lewis Capaldi announces UK and Ireland tour after his triumphant return to Glastonbury following a two-year hiatus amid his battle with Tourettes

This year, Lewis Capaldi has shared that he will embark on a tour across the United Kingdom and Ireland, having made a successful comeback at Glastonbury.

As a devoted fan, I was absolutely captivated when the talented Scottish singer, now 28, graced the Pyramid stage at Worthy Farm on a memorable Friday. It had been two long years since his valiant struggle with Tourette’s syndrome forced an abrupt end to his performance.

After his heartfelt comeback at the festival, Lewis delighted crowds again when he announced he’ll be touring in September. On Instagram, he jokingly commented, “Time for me to get back to business!

This year, the artist who created “The Someone You Loved” will perform at ten different locations, with concerts scheduled in cities such as Sheffield, Aberdeen, Birmingham, and Nottingham.

Lewis, who last week unveiled his new track Survive, will also play two days at London’s 02 Arena.

Lewis announced on Instagram that these performances will be his sole concerts taking place in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe for the entirety of this year.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale on July 8, while general sale is on July 10.

On Friday, the crowd at Worthy Farm erupted in cheers as the artist known for his hits about bruises returned to the scene after a two-year break from his career.

Overjoyed to stand before you once more, I found myself choked up as I declared: “It’s been two long years since I last stood here, and I had my doubts if I would ever return, but look at me now – I’m back, and I couldn’t be happier!

Lewis sang several well-known favorites, and at one point, emotion overtook him while performing the fresh release, “Survive,” a song that poignantly depicts the challenging phase in his career after his last performance at Glastonbury.

As an overjoyed admirer, I couldn’t help but notice tears streaming down fans’ faces and heartfelt shouts echoing through the crowd, all leading up to the moment when we joined together in a soulful serenade of his iconic tune, “Someone You Loved.

In a heartfelt address, Lewis expressed: “I’m delighted to return to Glastonbury. I don’t want to get overly sentimental up here today, or else I may become emotional, but my gratitude knows no bounds for your presence here.

Alrighty-then! Today’s session will be brief, but I wanted to come back and complete what I didn’t manage last time. Also, it seems like everyone already knew about it, so it wasn’t much of a secret.

After performing at Lewis’s concert, he shared a video on Instagram along with the caption: “Glastonbury, it’s amazing to be here again! Thank you so much for inviting me, with love x

As a grateful artist, I was touched by the outpouring of warm greetings from fans and esteemed peers who eagerly welcomed me back into the limelight.

Paddy McGuinness expressed enthusiasm by saying: “He’s the Boss”, and Jade Thirlwall responded with numerous affectionate emojis, while Sam Fender’s statement can be rephrased as “He’s Back” (similar to ‘Return of The King’), and Alan Shearer conveyed his enjoyment by saying “I Love It”.

After my heartfelt performance at Worthy Farm in June 2023, I decided to take a break to prioritize my mental well-being and adapt to the new reality following my recent Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis.

On the initial day at Glastonbury, artists such as CMAT, Lola Young, Alanis Morissette, and Lorde (with a surprise set) also took the stage.

Hours later, Lewis surprised fans with his announcement of returning on Instagram, posting a sneak peek of his fresh track along with the music video directed by Henry Dockrill.

In a thrilling update, he prefaced his message with “I haven’t posted in a while,” followed by sharing the link to his new song found in his profile.

The brief clip showcases delightful instances spanning Lewis’ life and professional journey, even dipping into his early years.

The newly released track is being referred to as an “unflinchingly truthful song” that tackles the struggles with self-doubt and despair related to mental health, emphasizing a challenging phase in his career after his recent Glastonbury performance.

This composition showcases poignant verses such as: ‘Oftentimes, I’m gripped by the anxiety that I am inadequate, I’ve endured more than my fair share of days where waking up on a Monday feels impossible.’

In a similar vein, these lines could be rephrased as follows: ‘I solemnly promise that I will endure, no matter how difficult or arduous it becomes; I am determined to rise again, even if it’s my final effort.’

Once more, Lewis partnered with his collaborator, Romans, on this track. Notably, they worked together to create the hit song “Someone You Loved” that Lewis is well known for.

The star’s Instagram post sparked immense enthusiasm among his followers, as they eagerly expressed their joy over his return in the comment section.
