Leica Celebrates 100 Years with M11-D Anniversary Set

Summary

  • Leica launches M11-D 100 Years of Leica set
  • Includes two special-edition 50mm lenses
  • Only 101 sets made, including the millionth M-Camera

As a devoted Leica enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Leica has commemorated a century since the revolutionary Leica I by unveiling the M11-D 100 Years of Leica Anniversary Set. This exclusive release, limited to just 101 sets, beautifully combines modern technology with timeless design, echoing the original 1925 camera.

The top plate boasts a high-gloss black lacquered brass finish, while the controls sport a nostalgic nickel hue. The exterior is minimalist and brand-free, creating an understated elegance that harks back to the past. At its heart lies a pair of special lenses: a reissued Leitz Anastigmat-M 50 f/3.5, reminiscent of the original collapsible lens, and a custom Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 ASPH., both adorned with anodized nickel tones and retro design elements.

Each set, numbered individually, comes in an elegant black lacquered wooden box with a cream-white microvelour interior, featuring vintage-style leather accessories and a certificate of authenticity. Notably, the one millionth Leica M-Camera, serial number 6000000, is included in this collection, uniquely marked as #000. This special edition represents a significant historical milestone for collectors. The set showcases Leica’s distinctive talent for balancing tradition and modernity, honoring its groundbreaking past while also highlighting the skill and craftsmanship that continue to define it.
