Another A-list star snubs SATC reprisal on And Just Like That amid Kim Cattrall’s feud with Sarah Jessica Parker
According to Kyle MacLachlan, it’s been disagreements about the creative aspects that have prevented him from being part of the Sex and the City spinoff titled “And Just Like That.
On Wednesday, the Emmy-nominated actor, now 66 years old, shared with Us Weekly his reasons for not yet returning to play Trey MacDougal, ex-spouse of Kristin Davis’ character Charlotte York, in the HBO series.
The actor expressed, “I’d be thrilled to return and enjoy myself again,” who is notably recognized for his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in the legendary ’90s mystery series, Twin Peaks.
At a God’s Love We Deliver event held in New York City on a balmy June night, the seasoned actor opened up about artistic disagreements he faced with producers over his potential return to the series, which was complicated by the strained relationship between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall.
I was told an idea, to which I replied, “It seems like it could benefit from a bit more.” So, I questioned, “Could the bond between Charlotte and Trey possibly require something beyond their initial concept?
MacLachlan shared his thoughts on an ideal location for the Trey MacDougal character, as discussed with a magazine.

‘I hinted that it’s possible Trey relocated to Napa and now runs a thriving vineyard and wine brand.’
He said, ‘But no, I actually haven’t said anything yet … it’d be very interesting.’
MacLachlan said that ‘regardless’ of if he returns or not, he think’s the show is ‘doing great.’
The actor known for roles in movies like Echo Valley, Showgirls, and Blue Velvet, offered warm remarks about the main actors of the HBO show.
In the same vein, And Just Like That brings back Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, who once again embody Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York in their roles.
Said MacLachlan: ‘They’re all lovely. And I adore them.’
Cattrall has not appeared on the rebooted show regularly amid years of tension with Parker.
Two years back, the star returned unexpectedly to the series for its reboot, taking up her memorable character, Samantha Jones, once more, starting from the 11th episode of the second season.

In a broadcast on August 24, 2023, the episode known as “The Last Supper Part Two: Main Course” aired, and it starred Cattrall.
In May of 2023, as reported by Variety, Sarah Jessica Parker, Danny Nucci, and Davis (the names of the other actors involved) claim that Cattrall did not engage in any conversation with them during her work on the episode of the reboot. It’s stated that she earned approximately $1 million for a single day’s worth of filming.
Originally airing on June 6, 1998, Sex and the City centered around four female New Yorkers who openly discussed their romantic entanglements and navigated the complexities of being a woman in the late ’90s. In essence, the series revolved around their candid conversations about love and relationships.
Turned out to be incredibly successful on HBO, spanning six seasons with a grand total of 94 episodes, and garnering a remarkable seven Primetime Emmy Awards along the way.
Additionally, it led to the production of two motion pictures: “Sex and the City” released in 2008 and its sequel “Sex and the City 2” in 2010. Discussions for a third film were initially held, but ultimately did not materialize.
