Charli XCX hits back at ‘fraud’ claims in scathing post after viewers branded her Glastonbury set the ‘worst headline act in history’
charli XCX defended herself online against accusations of being a “fraud” following criticism of her main performance at Glastonbury Festival’s Other Stage on Saturday evening.
At the age of 32, the performer drew a full house at Worthy Farm. However, she’s been facing criticism as numerous people claim they believe she was lip-syncing or employing auto-tune during her act.
Responding to X (previously recognized as Twitter), Charli countered criticisms by addressing the ‘vintage feel’ remarks.
The notion that using deliberate autotune in singing makes someone a fake or the belief that lacking a traditional band means they’re not a genuine artist is the most tedious and uninteresting perspective one could have. It’s so dull, I almost fell asleep just thinking about it. xx
To set the record straight, I must admit that I genuinely appreciate these discussions. In my opinion, the most impactful art tends to be controversial and challenging, leading to intriguing cultural developments instead of just being mildly interesting, easily grasped, and quickly forgotten.
In a subsequent remark, she expressed: “I’m truly appreciating the retro-style compliments about my Glastonbury act. It’s quite intriguing for me,” followed by expressing gratitude towards those who bestowed five-star ratings upon her.

After spectators criticized her lively show as ‘absolutely dreadful’ and labeled her as the ‘least impressive main act’ at the event.
It seems like you’re expressing displeasure about Charlie XCX’s performance at Glastonbury. “Isn’t it just me who finds Charlie XCX’s performance dreadful? I can’t help but wonder if this is even considered music. Listening to it on a playlist feels more like an endurance test. It’s hard to believe that Charlie XCX was one of the main acts at Glastonbury.
‘The performance by Charlie XCX at Glastonbury was arguably the most disappointing headline act in history. Other headliners may not be to everyone’s liking, but they typically make an effort to deliver good music. However, it seems that Charlie XCX didn’t put much effort into singing. Her payment should have been withheld because a stripper dancing to a Spotify speaker could have given a similar show.’
The Glastonbury performance by Charli XCX was incredibly disappointing. She barely sang, used autotune in the few instances she did sing, and her dancing was terrible. If I had struggled to get into the crowd for this show, I would be extremely upset.
During her act, Charli flaunted an extremely provocative look, highlighting her slender physique in miniature black leather shorts and a mesh skull-adorned cropped top.
Charli added a flowing Alexander McQueen scarf as an accessory, while she concealed her eyes with large, dark shades.
The audience erupted with enthusiasm as she played popular songs such as Party 4 U, Speed Drive, Sympathy Is a Knife, and 360.
Later on, Charli showcased her tune “Apple”, and it was Gracie Abrams, the well-known dancer from a viral video, who was dancing – she’s the daughter of renowned Star Wars director JJ Abrams.

At the same time, another artist was the main act at the Other stage, while Neil Young and Chrome Hearts took center stage on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.
Simultaneously, the Scissor Sisters were gracing the Woodsies stage, but due to an overwhelming crowd, the venue was forced to close down.
During their performance on Sunday, Nile Rodgers and Chic were praised as the “best act in years” by festival attendees. They closed out the last day of the festival with an exceptional show.
In the Pyramid Stage, following Rod Stewart’s performance during his Legends time slot, appeared the ’70s legendary figure, now 72 years old, who is renowned for songs like Le Freak and Everybody Dance.
After Rod Stewart had performed in the Legends slot on the Pyramid Stage, a 72-year-old icon from the ’70s, famous for hits such as Le Freak and Everybody Dance, made an appearance.
Or simply:
In the Legends time slot of the Pyramid Stage, Rod Stewart was followed by a 72-year-old ’70s icon known for songs like Le Freak and Everybody Dance.
However, spectators swiftly lauded Rogers’ rhythmic showcase, insisting that it deserved a headliner spot this year rather than its current position.
This year, Glastonbury festival was held once again at Worthy Farm in Somerset, featuring The 1975, Neil Young, and Chrome Hearts, as well as Olivia Rodrigo as headline acts.
On the final day of the festival this coming Sunday, you’ll see some popular acts such as Wolf Alice, Snow Patrol, and Noah Kahan taking center stage.
As a devoted fan, I proudly share that, just like me attending my hundredth event, Norman Quentin Cook, better known as Fat Boy Slim, recently announced his 100th performance at the legendary Glastonbury festival on Instagram.
