Rod Stewart leaves Glastonbury stage to fix urgent issue as his glamorous backing singers take over the Pyramid stage during Legends set
On Sunday, Rod Stewart delivered a lively and packed performance at Glastonbury, however, halfway through his show, he allowed his backup singers to step up and lead.
As a devoted admirer, I had the privilege of witnessing the legendary singer, aged 80, perform during the Legends timeframe on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm. A massive audience gathered, and after nearly an hour, he graciously shared that he needed to take a brief respite.
After performing “Do You Think I’m Sexy,” Rod informed the audience: ‘Ladies, I’ll be switching shirts while you entertain us with a song.’
At the festival, a group of stunning ladies in coordinating sequined gowns captivated the audience with their outstanding rendition of Lady Marmalade.
Later on, Rod abandoned his jacket, white shirt, and jeans ensemble, opting instead for a vibrant pink suit as he reappeared on stage.
As the performer behind Maggie May’s hits, I gave a captivating performance under the scorching sun, pausing for a moment to slip into a striking green ensemble.

On the stage once more, it was his backup vocalists who delivered a version of Tina Turner’s famous song “Proud Mary”.
In another setting, Rod stumbled upon an embarrassing slip-up when presenting Lulu at the Glastonbury event, by announcing unexpected guests.
Lulu’s entry didn’t go as smoothly as Rod had hoped as he introduced Ronnie Wood followed by Lulu.
He enthusiastically announced, “It’s a true joy for me to introduce two legendary figures. First up, we have Ronnie Wood. Let’s give him a warm welcome!” followed by “And here’s another legend, the fantastic Lulu…
As the stage fell silent, Rod looked around awkwardly for Lulu as she didn’t join him on stage.
He then added: ‘Oh yeah, Lulu is coming on next’, causing the crowd to laugh at the mistake.
Rod went on, saying, “Let’s go back to how we used to do things, Ronnie,” and the duo started up again, with Ronnie strumming the guitar while they played a version of ‘Stay With Me’.
In this instance, Rod handed over the spotlight to Ronnie during a guitar solo, as Ronnie wore a glittering black coat, while they were both longtime friends. They harmonized on the chorus together afterwards.

Upon the stage joining them was Scottish artist Lulu, age 77. Rod exclaimed, “Let’s go, Lulu dear, where are you?
Running on stage, she replied: ‘You’re killing it’.
Lulu appeared stunning in a complete white outfit, which included fringed pants and a jacket. As a pair, they energized the crowd by performing a rendition of “Hot Legs.
The musician who stole the spotlight while dressed in a green suit concluded the song with this exclamation: “What a woman! Let’s give her a hearty round of applause.
Throughout the concert, Rod ensured a lively show by incorporating numerous outfit swaps and inviting Mick Hucknall from Simply Red, who is 65 years old.
Approaching about five minutes late, the talented artist ended his performance with a heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you Lulu, thank you Ronnie and Nick,” he said before departing from the stage. “I must go now, so I’ll let you enjoy this song instead,” he added as he continued singing his popular hit Sailing.
