Dave Bautista’s new movie will finally see him achieve a career first after “unattractive” fears

In a groundbreaking move, Dave Bautista’s upcoming film marks the first time he will accomplish something significant in his career, an achievement he once expressed doubts about due to past concerns.

In 2023, an actor known for his roles in films such as “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” expressed feelings of being perceived as unsuitable to star in romantic comedies due to his perception of not being attractive enough.

Fast forward two years (and a few months), and now he’s been attached to star in one.

It’s being said by Deadline that Bautista will take charge and be involved in the production of “The Romantic,” a tale centered around a man named Ed, who stands tall and has an imposing appearance, yet secretly writes romance novels under the pseudonym Francine London.

In an attempt to conceal his true identity, he engages a rather unpredictable woman to impersonate ‘Francine’ and mislead others. Yet, a reporter with a strong disdain for romantic affairs and deceit happens to be present at the literary gathering as well.

Is it likely that she will uncover the truth about things, and perhaps even develop feelings for Ed despite past complications? Given the genre, it seems quite probable in a romantic comedy setting.

At the moment, neither a director nor a main actress has been assigned for this project. However, we’re excited to share that the script hails from Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, who are known for their work on “Surviving Christmas,” “Mary + Jane,” and “Liza on Demand.

Speaking about his aspirations for romantic comedies, Bautista expressed, “I understand that I might not fit the traditional mold of a rom-com protagonist. I have a more rugged charm.

When I gaze into the mirror, I question myself, “Could it be that I’m not finding myself appealing enough? Is there some aspect of me that others might find off-putting, causing them to overlook me for certain circles?

Following many years spent in secondary roles, he finally got his chance as the main character in M. Night Shyamalan’s chilling horror movie titled “Knock at the Cabin“.

In that moment, he commended the director for pushing him daily to strive for improvement and grow as an actor.

The inaugural printed issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, “British Comedy Legends,” is available now! Grab a copy from your local newsstand or purchase it online for only £3.99.
