Jack Draper could be in for £3million payout if he wins Wimbledon this year… in which case the British number one could swap his humble £1,000 Polo for a Porsche like Emma Raducanu

If the top-ranked British tennis player manages to triumph over a tough competition, he stands to earn a significant £3 million prize at this year’s Wimbledon tournament.

But unlike many successful sports stars, Jack Draper looks set to keep things pretty humble.

These unique photos capture the 23-year-old continuing to use a well-worn VW Polo, which stands in stark contrast to the luxurious Porsche Emma Raducanu obtained through a lucrative endorsement deal following her victory at the 2021 US Open.

Earlier this month, the pictures depict Jack fueling his 12-year-old automobile, valued around £1,000, at a gas station located in Ashtead, Surrey.

He’s nearly from the place where he spent his childhood, being the son of a former CEO of Sport England and Lawn Tennis Association, Roger Draper. Additionally, it’s approximately 12 miles away from the All England tennis club, where he’ll debut this week against Argentinian Sebastian Baez, currently ranked No. 38 in the world.

Draper adopts a practical, focused attitude towards the game, indicating that he’s more concerned with playing well rather than temporary rewards.

Last year, as Raducanu’s global rankings dropped, she had to return her Porsche 911 Carrera. Recently, you might have spotted her behind the wheel of a more modest vehicle – a pre-owned Dacia Sandero, priced around £5,000.

Though Draper’s car appears worn out from past damages, his career doesn’t show signs of aging in the same manner.

Over the last 12 months, there’s been an outstanding advancement that began when I ranked 40th in the world at the start of the grass court season last year.

In September, he made it to his initial Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open. Earlier in March, he claimed victory for the first time in a Masters 1000 tournament at Indian Wells. This month, he also managed to advance to the semi-finals at Queen’s.

Currently holding the fourth position globally, it’s widely believed that his career income surpasses £5 million. However, Wimbledon, a tournament in which he hasn’t advanced past the second round so far, might prove to be his most daunting task yet, given the demanding pathway to the final.

Draper expressed great enthusiasm about getting out there to contend, having recently regained his health after a spell with tonsillitis.

Overflowing with enthusiasm as I’m backed by a cheering crowd – knowing that I get to compete on the very same courts I’ve dreamt of playing since I was young, watching Andy Murray and other exceptional players showcase their skills – it’s simply incredible to realize this is happening!
