Frankie, who’s a young, solitary mother dealing with a peculiar disorder called dyschronometria – an infrequent issue that makes it hard for her to grasp time – relies on cassette tapes for direction. Taking a risky assignment from a woman shrouded in mystery, she embarks on this job to help her family financially, oblivious to the ominous repercussions that lie ahead.
The film, titled Gazer, is a suspenseful mystery thriller that boasts stunning cinematography captured on 16mm film. It evokes the anxious themes, striking visuals, poignant scores, unconventional horror elements, and the distinct styles of masters such as Pakula, Hitchcock, De Palma, Cronenberg, Lynch, Schrader, and Polanski.
The initial work of director Ryan J. Sloan, co-written and starring Ariella Mastroianni, titled Gazer, was first shown to the world at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. Subsequently, it was screened at both the Glasgow and Dublin Film Festivals.
