After Taylor Swift’s Surprise ‘Shake It Off’ Performance, 49ers Tight End George Kittle Shared The Story Behind How It Happened
Following two years of performing arenas brimming with tens of thousands worldwide during the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift unexpectedly reappeared on stage at a sold-out Tight Ends and Friends benefit concert, which was a much smaller event compared to her usual shows. Her rendition of “Shake It Off” instantly became viral. Now, George Kittle, tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, has shared insights into how this surprise performance unfolded.
For the first time since regaining ownership of her music, Taylor Swift performed live alongside country artist Kane Brown, singing one of her hits from the album “1989” at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville. Following Travis Kelce’s summer training camp at Tight End University where she spent quality time with her boyfriend, Taylor decided to join in on the festivities by entertaining the attendees with a song performance.
Currently, it may pique your curiosity as to how this situation unfolded. It seems that the decision was made quite impulsively and casually, as Tight End University’s co-founder, Kittle, shared with Fox News.
Taylor displayed an exceptional level of kindness and friendliness; she suggested singing ‘Shake It Off,’ and we responded enthusiastically, saying it would be fantastic if she could persuade us. In the end, we managed to make that arrangement.
Given that Kelce is among the founders of TEU, together with Kittle and Greg Olsen, it’s not surprising to find Swift present at different TEU gatherings throughout the week. It’s also logical to assume that she would join the other performers on stage for a song at the concert.
Given Taylor Swift’s fondness for surprising her audience, demonstrated by her unconventional song sets and unexpected album releases, as well as her compassionate nature towards fans, such as her recent visit to a children’s hospital, it seems fitting that she would make an appearance at the 49ers game. This move resonated with Kittle, and the crowd too, since the 49ers star expressed his delight about it.
She was outstanding. In a crowd that I estimate to be around 1,000, it was the most boisterous group I’ve ever heard, hands down. It was an unforgettable event. I believe everyone enjoyed themselves immensely while witnessing that performance live.
It’s no surprise at all that the room erupted when Swift performed and shared that they decided on this show during a night out with drinks. Everywhere she sings, such reactions occur, but witnessing something like what you see here makes it challenging not to shout at the top of your lungs.

During the same interview, Kittle stated that last year’s charity concert drew a substantial crowd, and their aim was to make this year’s event even more impressive. Securing Taylor Swift for a performance definitely meets that objective. Moreover, they managed to bring in some of the biggest acts in country music, such as Kane Brown and Luke Combs, to share the stage as well.
Last year’s event was a blast with Jelly Roll, Jon Pardi, and Chase Rice. We were thinking, “Let’s aim for another grand time.” Greg Olson managed to get Luke Combs to drop by…And then, Greg, my wife, and I persuaded Luke to perform, saying things like, ‘Come on man. Taylor Swift might perform. You don’t want to miss out, right?’ So he took the stage for a song with Jordan Davis, which was fantastic.
From my perspective as a dedicated cinephile, this seemed like an exhilarating spectacle filled with laughter and music, where I’d have the opportunity to dance along with Taylor Swift and a host of renowned musicians, letting loose and enjoying the moment together.
Here’s a fun twist on your sentence, written from a fan’s perspective: “Not only was the event incredible, but the cherry on top was knowing that the money raised that night was donated to charity – now that’s a summer training celebration I can truly get behind!
