Denis Villeneuve to direct next James Bond film
In the upcoming James Bond saga, marking the 26th installment of this iconic series, Denis Villeneuve is set to take on the director’s role. Additionally, he and Tanya Lapointe will both act as executive producers for this highly anticipated production.
Previously mentioned, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now in charge of the project’s production. They took over following an agreement between the show’s original producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who relinquished their creative control to Amazon MGM Studios earlier this year.
In his statement, four-time Academy Award nominee Villeneuve expressed that some of his earliest cinema experiences were tied to 007. He fondly remembers watching James Bond movies with his father, starting from ‘Dr. No’ featuring Sean Connery. Being a dedicated Bond fan, he considers the character as hallowed ground. His aim is to preserve the legacy and pave the way for future adventures. This task is daunting yet exhilarating for him, and represents a significant honor. He, along with Amy and David, are overjoyed about the opportunity to revive this icon on the silver screen.

This innovative collaboration will now be the proud custodian of the James Bond intellectual property rights, keeping the iconic spy series alive and kicking for future generations.
In addition, Pascal and Heyman expressed, “Denis Villeneuve has cherished James Bond films since childhood. His ambition has long been to create this very movie, and now that dream is shared by us as well. We feel fortunate to collaborate with such a remarkable director.

In 2006, Daniel Craig started playing James Bond with “Casino Royale.” Five films later, “No Time to Die,” released in 2021, marked the end of his tenure. Now, following American director Cary Joji Fukunaga on “No Time to Die,” Denis Villeneuve from Canada will be the second non-British filmmaker in the Bond series’ history.
