Grant Hill Joins NBC’s Stacked NBA Team—And You Won’t Believe Who Else Is on Board
The NBA is coming back to NBC in the fall of 2025, and games and coverage will also be accessible for Peacock subscribers. In preparation for this, network executives are actively seeking talented broadcasters. Several well-known analysts have already been signed on for various roles, many of whom are former athletes. Additionally, some veteran TNT Sports commentators have also been brought on board. This most recent hire has left me particularly impressed with the company’s dedication to building a robust broadcasting team.
For quite some time, NBA on TNT (now discontinued) nurtured many former players into broadcasters, one of whom was Grant Hill. This esteemed basketball hall of famer excelled during his tenure at the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned network. Notably, NBC executives took notice of his performance, as Hill has now been officially brought on board to enhance their professional basketball coverage.
Through a public announcement, Grant Hill shared his enthusiasm about becoming part of the group. Here’s what his statement said:
“I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining this team. I can’t wait to start working together!
Thrilled beyond words to become a member of the NBA coverage team at NBC Sports! The NBA holds a special place in my heart, and I’m deeply thankful for the chance to keep passing on my passion for this game to fans nationwide. It’s a privilege to be joining NBC as they re-enter the NBA scene – a broadcaster with such a storied basketball history – and to debut on Peacock is an added honor. I can hardly wait to dive in this fall!
One aspect that makes this hiring particularly special is it symbolizes a full-circle moment for Grant Hill, as during his playing years in the early 2000s, NBC covered his games. Following this, Hill worked with TNT from 2015 to 2020. Known for his laidback demeanor and analytical skills, Detroit Piston legend Hill is admired for his thoughtful approach to dissecting basketball games. In conclusion, this addition to the Peacock network’s sports division is yet another excellent choice.
It’s truly remarkable how effectively NBC Sports have managed to attract high-caliber professionals to their team. For example, Jamal Crawford, previously with TNT, will also be joining the crew. Furthermore, ESPN veteran Maria Taylor has also been announced as a new addition. So far, an impressive roster of personalities has been assembled, and you can find the confirmed list below:
(Note that I have slightly adjusted the sentence structure to make it more natural and easier to read.)
- Jamal Crawford – Game Analyst
- Reggie Miller – Game Analyst
- Carmelo Anthony – Studio Analyst
- Vince Carter – Studio Analyst
- Mike Tirico – Play-By-Play Analyst
- Noah Eagle – Play-By-Play Analyst
- Michael Jordan – Special Contributor
NBC shelled out a significant amount of money to secure the NBA broadcast rights, and it appears they’re fully committed to maximizing their return on investment. Frankly, I wouldn’t have imagined such an aggressive approach from the company when it comes to attracting top talent. (I apologize for the basketball pun.) To be honest, who would have guessed that a legend like Michael Jordan would sign up as a special contributor? With the recent hiring announcements, my anticipation for this team is growing by leaps and bounds.
Despite my disappointment, it seems that the reorganization of broadcast rights has brought an end to NBA on TNT. Back in 2024, this was a much-debated topic, with many fans eagerly following the potential cancellation of their beloved show, Inside the NBA. Fortunately, Warner Bros. Discovery struck a groundbreaking deal with ESPN, enabling them to distribute the series further.
I’m definitely going to catch Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, and the rest of their team when they appear on ESPN. But you can bet that I’ll also be keeping an eye on NBC during the fall as Grant Hill, Carmelo Anthony, Maria Taylor, and their crew work together to create their unique dynamic.
