Hollywood star unrecognisable as he returns to Australia 35 years after starring in iconic Nicole Kidman film
35 years following his role in the popular movie “Dead Calm,” starring Nicole Kidman, Billy Zane is back down under.
In 1987, Zane was featured with an Academy Award-winning Australian actor and Sam Neill in a suspenseful Australian production that was shot in Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef of Queensland.
On a Tuesday, the 59-year-old individual, noticeably different from his past heartthrob days, enjoyed exploring the sights of the Rocks and Sydney Harbor area.
On Instagram, the actor reminisced about filming an Australian movie as he saw an old sailboat, the Southern Swan, moored at Sydney Harbor, triggering memories of his filmmaking days.
In the film, Zane portrays a mad wanderer, spending his days voyaging across the Pacific on a ship called a schooner. Later in the story, he abducts Nicole’s character.

‘So great to be back on the Rocks in Sydney, ‘ Zane said in his post.
‘Sure looks like my Square Rigged, double masted Brig from Dead Calm, doesn’t it,’ he added.
Billy spoke about the present-day pleasure boat sailing on Sydney Harbour, which is known as the three-masted Southern Swan.
The ship seen in the movie was originally a weather-beaten Merchant Marine ship, which had sustained damage during a storm and was subsequently restored for use in the film’s production.
A replica was used for a scene in which the boat is enveloped by flames.
Zane posted a picture of the ship along with one where he’s posed near the international terminal as well.
Wrapped up against the cold winter breeze, Zane donned fashionable designer glasses, a flat cap, and a grey scarf, giving him an elegant appearance.
He also shared shared a photo of himself enjoying a drink in a bathrobe.
It comes after the star attended the Supanova fan convention in Sydney on Sunday.

1997 saw the Titanic actor gain widespread recognition when he played the antagonist, Caledon Hockley, opposite Kate Winslet in the movie.
Additionally, he gained recognition for his remarkable performances in “The Phantom” (1996), “Dead Calm” (1989), and “Zoolander” (2001).
Previously, Zane underwent a remarkable change and bore little resemblance to himself as he assumed the role of Marlon Brando in the latest biographical film, “Waltzing With Brando.
The biopic is based on a memoir penned by the acclaimed actor’s architect, Bernard Judge.
The narrative unfolds about how Brando stumbled upon Judge and managed to persuade him into constructing an eco-perfect sanctuary on the minuscule, seemingly uninhabitable Tahitian island of Tetiaroa.
