Aussie Oscar nominee and Disney star splash out $11.2million on stunning five-bedroom Sydney home

An Australian actress, along with her Academy Award-nominated spouse, has purchased a luxurious property worth millions on the North Shore of Sydney.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that my partner, Tony McNamara, and I have just acquired an exquisite Palm Springs-style residence nestled in Middle Cove, at a price point of $11.2 million. This exciting news was recently revealed by the Daily Telegraph.

1959 saw the construction of a breathtaking home, inspired by Palm Springs, with architect Glynn Nicholls as its designer.

Overlooking the scenic Sugarloaf Bay, this exceptional property boasts a prime location spread across approximately 1,252 square meters of waterfront reserve.

This contemporary residence underwent a detailed restoration, enveloped in expanses of glass for optimal enjoyment of breathtaking vistas.

The home maximizes natural lighting and includes five spacious bedrooms, one of which serves as an additional master suite or private guest quarters complete with its own bathroom.

There is also has a separate cabana with ensuite, storage and a Murphy bed.

In my expert opinion, this space offers a generously proportioned dining and living zone that boasts a suspended fireplace for cozy ambiance, alongside a conveniently placed TV screen in the lounge area.

Built-in bookshelves also open to reveal a climate-controlled cellar and tasting room.

The house is situated within lush, indigenous gardens and boasts a completely heated swimming pool tiled with Italian materials, as well as a gas hot tub.

According to a report, advertising executive Stuart Archibald is the new owner of the property, having bought it from Facebook’s former CEO, Paul Borrund, back in 2020.

At that time, the sale established a new benchmark, as the property was sold for an impressive $7.25 million – a significant $3 million more than the prior record-holder.

The property next door now holds the record after selling for $11.5million in 2021.

The article further disclosed that this duo additionally owns a property in Bowral, located within the New South Wales Southern Highlands region, which they acquired back in 2017 for a price tag of $1,775,000.

It’s often noted that Belinda gained significant recognition for playing Aunt Elizabeth in the witty Disney/Hulu show “The Great,” a series penned by her spouse, Tony McNamara.

The show, airing for three seasons until its cancellation in 2023, is a blend of humor and drama that delves into historical events while satirically portraying the journey of Catherine the Great (played by Elle Fanning), transforming from an outsider to the longest-reigning female monarch in Russian history.

Apart from being recognized globally, Belinda is set to become familiar with Australian viewers through her portrayal of Betty Bell in the Channel Nine drama series “Doctor, Doctor”, a show that was co-created by her spouse.

In the upcoming dark comedy “The Roses,” she is set to appear alongside acting stars such as Olivia Coleman, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Allison Janney. Notably, this film is also co-written by her very productive spouse.

This year, Belinda stepped into the role of a director for the first time, showcasing her short film titled “Glove” during Flickerfest 2025.

Apart from Tony, his professional background is quite noteworthy, amassing various accolades, such as a BAFTA award for the exceptional original screenplay category in 2018 for the critically acclaimed film The Favourite.

Alongside Deborah Davis, Tony was among the ten nominees for the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award that same year, as our film garnered multiple nominations.

In 2024, Tony received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay, specifically for the Emma Stone movie titled Poor Things.

As per Screen Rant reports, it’s known that Tony is now collaborating with Taika Waititi on a future Star Wars movie.
