“Twisted and compelling” thriller with “messed up” ending shoots up the trending chart days after release

The Prime Video thriller titled “We Were Liars“, known for its unconventional and surprising conclusion, has quickly climbed the popularity charts only a few days following its debut.

The TV series is modeled after E Lockhart’s book, and it tells the story of 17-year-old Cady Sincalir. After a tragic incident, she finds herself with memory loss.

Upon Cady’s arrival at Beechwood, the annual vacation spot of her well-to-do family, the incident that occurred remains unspoken by everyone, compelling Cady to investigate and reveal the truth on her own.

In the movie “We Were Liars,” actress Emily Alyn Lind is cast as Cady, with Esther McGregor, Mamie Gummer, Caitlin FitzGerald, Joseph Zada, and Shubham Maheshwari also starring in supporting roles.

At this moment, the eight-part series can be found occupying the second position in Prime Video’s popular UK series ranking, making it one of their most-watched shows.

Right now, the TV series titled “We Were Liars” boasts an admirable rating of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 16 reviews, with numerous critics expressing their appreciation for its captivating nature.

In a different phrasing, here’s what Variety said: “This captivating TV series revolves around family dynamics, privilege, and repercussions. Although the last two episodes lacked some impact, the overall journey is still an engaging one.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “I’ve just finished ‘We Were Liars,’ and it’s a fantastic addition to the summer melodrama genre. It fits right in with other mind-bending series set under the sun like ‘Big Little Lies’ and ‘Cruel Summer.’ Definitely worth checking out!

Many people did not find it as captivating; in fact, The Hollywood Reporter wrote: “Amidst an ocean of tales about unhappy rich white individuals, it can be challenging to empathize with the slow-moving realization of a privileged teenager that there could be more to life than socializing at the age of sixteen.

In an interview with Marie Claire, the actor portraying Cady’s cousin Johnny, named Zada, discussed the unconventional finale of the series.

Zada remarked that the conclusion was just as heart-wrenching as in Lockhart’s book, further commenting: “Let me tell you, things don’t improve on the TV series. It’s quite a mess.
