Only days left to watch! “Scandalous” British-set period drama ‘eaten up’ by fans is leaving UK streamer

A well-known historical drama, which captivated audiences by being set in an illustrious era of British history, is about to depart from Prime Video.

As a gamer, I’ve got some exciting news to share! The captivating series, “The Tudors,” which delves into the tumultuous 40-year rule of King Henry VIII, will be disappearing from my favorite UK streaming platform in 30 days. It’s time to make a plan to rewatch this historical masterpiece before it’s gone!

2007 marked the premiere of the historical fiction drama, The Tudors, on screens. This series debut proved to be Showtime’s highest-rated series launch in a span of three years, as reported by Variety. Both critics and audiences responded favorably to the show, with the New York Times commenting that “many viewers were eagerly consuming” it at the time.

TIME magazine highlighted the “dramatic” quality of the story, while the New York Post hailed it as “outstanding” since The Sopranos. On the other hand, Variety suggested that it could have been an exceptional series, but still found it to be engaging and entertaining (as summarized by Rotten Tomatoes).

The TV series, “The Tudors,” boasted a top-tier cast with Jonathan Rhys Meyers portraying Henry VIII and Natalie Dormer from “Game of Thrones” as Anne Boleyn. Additionally, the cast included Henry Cavill, James Frain, Joely Richardson, and Peter O’Toole, alongside several other talented actors.

From 2007 to 2010, the TV series “The Tudors” garnered multiple award nominations and managed to win several of them. It was particularly recognized with a Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series and for its exceptional costume design.

The show was composed by Michael Hirst, known for penning the 1998 movie “Elizabeth” featuring Cate Blanchett as the lead character. Lately, he has been responsible for creating and writing “Vikings”.
