Anne Burrell talked about marital bliss and appearing on Meghan Markle’s show in heartbreaking interview weeks before Food Network star’s shock death at 55
Anne Burrell, a celebrated figure on Food Network, expressed her delight about married life as she prepared for her fourth wedding anniversary, only weeks before her unexpected passing.
On Tuesday morning, the well-known television cook, recognized by her distinctive platinum spikes hairstyle, passed away at her residence in Brooklyn, New York. She was 55 years old.
In her hometown of Cazenovia, New York, Burrell got married to her husband, Stuart Claxton, last October during an autumn-themed wedding ceremony and reception. This was their special day.
Reflecting upon my recent marital bliss during an interview with The Daily Mail last April, I shared enthusiastically how effortless married life feels – as if we’re still basking in the euphoria of our honeymoon phase. Moreover, I playfully hinted at potential collaborations with Meghan Markle on her Netflix series.
She mentioned during the City Harvest gala that October marks four years for her. It feels as though it’s only been four minutes, she said, expressing uncertainty if it’s still the honeymoon phase, but she’s thoroughly enjoying these days of married life so far.
She also revealed how she would make scones for her husband as she discussed Markle’s show.

Absolutely, without a doubt! I’d attend the grand opening if it was an envelope. Why not join forces in the kitchen with Meghan? She seems to find the idea amusing.
She disclosed that she had not tried Markle’s controversial As Ever jam.
She mentioned that she isn’t particularly fond of jam, but on rare occasions, she prepares it specifically for her husband to enjoy with scones. Beyond these instances, she wouldn’t consider herself a big fan of jam.
On her Instagram, Burrell, famous for her role in Worst Cooks in America, often posts photos featuring her spouse and their combined family, which includes Javier, his son from a past relationship.
In May, she shared a video of Claxton gleefully as their cat was licking his hair. “I ADORE this SO MUCH!!!” she wrote in the caption. “I’m also GREEN with envy… I’m about to dish out the treat rewards,” she added, using the hashtag ‘#the Claxtons’.
Last February, she shared a photo of the three of them having dinner at the popular New York eatery, The Corner Store. In her caption, she expressed her enjoyment by saying, “What a wonderful and tasty dinner at @thecornerstore with my top two fellows! @stuartclaxton and @markymeat!
Burrell’s family confirmed the devastating news of her death in an emotional statement on Tuesday.
As I recount the stories of my cherished Anne, the radiant woman who graced each space with her enchanting presence, I can’t help but echo the sentiments shared by her family: “I was privileged to call her wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend. Her smile, like a beacon, illuminated every room she stepped into.

‘Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world.
‘Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.’
At 7:50 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, authorities shared that officers from the NYPD’s 76th Precinct were dispatched due to a report about a 55-year-old woman who was found unconscious and unresponsive.
Once Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived, they ‘pronounced [Burrell] deceased on scene.’
The NY Chief Medical Examiner has stated that an autopsy will be performed on Burrell’s remains to determine the reason for her passing.
Many tributes poured in, with Gigi Hadid, known for competing against Bobby Flay on the cooking show, praising her as an ‘icon’ or ‘legend.’
Deeply saddened by the news about the passing of Anne Burrell, I find myself reminiscing our moments together on that reality show back in 2023,” the supermodel, aged 30, expressed, posting a picture of them.
As a dedicated admirer for a long time, experiencing this day alongside her was the fulfillment of a cherished wish. Match wits with Bobby. Socialize. Dine.

‘I wish we could have done it again. She was awesome. Rest in Peace Legend.’
Star of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Carson Kressley, shared that he conversed with Burrell only a few days prior to her passing.
He penned down, ‘Take it easy, Chef Anne,’ accompanied by a picture of them. ‘I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside you, learned from you, shared laughter with you. So many precious moments – both on set and off – this photo of us enjoying life is one I hold dear, as the young ones say.’
‘Anne loved this photo of us so I know she’d be happy I chose this one.’
Prior to her passing, Burrell found herself deeply engrossed in improvisational acting lessons. Her ardor for culinary arts, which had ignited early in life, stemmed from the delicious homemade dishes prepared by her mother and observing the renowned chef, Julia Child, on television.
Following her passion for both English and cooking, she obtained a degree from Canisius College in Buffalo in 1991. She then pursued her dream in cuisine and attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, completing her studies there in 1996.
She worked at various popular restaurants in New York City, such as Felidia and Savoy in Soho, mastering Mediterranean cooking during her tenure.
I eventually found myself under the limelight, primarily recognized for my extended tenure as the host of Worst Cooks in America.
For 28 seasons, the popular show featured renowned chefs guiding aspiring home cooks with the goal of turning them into seasoned kitchen professionals.
Apart from that, she has been featured on Chef Wanted, Chopped, Food Network Star, and more recently, the competition series House of Knives – debuting in March this year. Additionally, she has authored two cookbooks herself: “Cook Like a Rock Star” and “Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Motivate & Empower”.
