Originating from and nurtured in the town of Cazenovia, N.Y., Burrell developed an early passion for food, influenced by her mother and renowned chef Julia Child. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in English and communication at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. Later on, she continued her education at the Culinary Institute of America.

On Food Network, Burrell became notably recognized for her expertise in Italian dishes, particularly pasta, and her competitive spirit. Her television career took off when she served as Mario Batali’s sous-chef on “Iron Chef America,” where she sharpened her skills in competitive cooking. This was followed by the debut of her own cooking program, “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef,” in 2008.

A representative from Food Network stated that Anne was an exceptional individual and gifted cook – she taught, competed, and consistently emphasized the significance of food in her own life and the happiness it can bring when shared. We extend our condolences to Anne’s family, friends, and admirers during this difficult period of grief.

Since 2010, I’ve shared this journey with several co-hosts during the show’s impressive 28-season run.

In 2011 and 2013 respectively, two cookbooks were penned by Burrell: the New York Times bestseller titled “Cook Like a Star from New York” and “Empower Your Culinary Journey: Recipes to Inspire & Confidently Cook”, as it is more casually known.

Apart from her, she leaves behind her spouse, Stuart Claxton; her stepson, Javier; her mom, Marlene; her siblings, Jane and Ben; as well as her nieces, Isabella and Amelia, and her nephew, Nicolas.
