Story Highlights
- Skirk is a 5-star Cryo Sword character designed to be an on-field carry and a strong synergy with Freeze teams.
- Shenhe is a 5-star Cryo Polearm character designed to be a fully Cryo support who increases crit and cryo dmg for Cryo DPS characters!
- Skirk is a must-pull for Freeze enthusiasts, while Shenhe is a good support choice for Cryo/Physical DPS
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that starting from the 18th of June, 2025, I’ll be diving back into the world of Teyvat as the Phase 1 banners for Genshin Impact go live! This exciting journey will last until the 8th of July 2025. In this version 5.7 Phase 1, you’ll find a freshly introduced 5-star character and a fan-favorite character returning in a captivating dual banner. Can’t wait to see who I’ll be teaming up with next!
Skirk is a five-star character specializing in the Cryo Sword class. She excels as an on-field carrier, relying on two primary abilities: her Serpent Subtlety energy mechanism and a powerful compatibility with Freeze teams.
- I highly recommend Skirk if you love Freeze teams. She gets major damage boosts when paired with Cryo and Hydro allies, making her a natural fit for mono-freeze comps.
- I think her flexible playstyle is super fun. You can either stay on-field with flashy Cryo-infused normal attacks or quick-swap her in for a massive AoE burst nuke, whichever your team needs more.

- Skirk’s burst damage is no joke. When you store enough Subtlety, her Elemental Burst hits incredibly hard and covers a huge AoE, great for clearing mobs or bosses during rotations.
- She rewards smart rotations. If you’re someone who enjoys mastering resource management and timing, I think you’ll love optimizing her Subtlety and Void Rift generation.
- She brings value even beyond her damage. In mono Freeze teams, she boosts all party members’ Elemental Skill levels by 1, which helps both her and her teammates do more damage.
- I’ve found her very useful in Abyss and AoE-heavy content. Her burst covers a wide area, making her better than some Cryo units who rely on single-target attacks.
Shenhe is a five-star character, specializing in Cryo polearms. Her role is primarily to offer support by enhancing critical hit probability and Cryo damage for characters focusing on Cryo attacks.
- If you love Cryo teams, I seriously think Shenhe is a must-pull. Her entire kit is built to make Cryo DPS units hit way harder than they could on their own.
- I love how strong her buffs feel. Her Elemental Skill, Icy Quill, gives a massive boost to Cryo damage, and you can choose between tap or hold for different types of buffs depending on your team’s needs.

- Her synergy with Cryo carries is unmatched. Shenhe fits right in and makes your main DPS shine.
- I also like that she adds utility without needing to hog field time. You just skill, burst, and swap, super clean and efficient rotations.
- She even works with physical comps! If you’re running Eula or Rosaria physical builds, Shenhe still provides value through her resistance shred and Cryo application.
Why you should go for Skirk or Shenhe in Genshin Impact Version 5.7
If you’re struggling to decide whether to choose Skirk or Shenhe in Version 5.7, here’s my recommendation: Opt for Skirk if you prioritize high Cryo Damage Per Second (DPS). She excels in this area and stands out due to her versatility between quickswap and on-field playstyles, making her an extremely valuable character.
Her remarkable ability to excel, harmonious team compatibility, and impressive performance at C0 level make her a favorable choice for long-term investment. Conversely, Shenhe is not considered a must-pull character. She’s an excellent Cryo support, but she’s not essential, given that characters like Escoffier can perform similar roles more effortlessly and with less setup at the moment.
