X-Men Power Rankings: Who’s the Mightiest in Avengers: Doomsday?
In “Avengers: Doomsday,” we can expect a number of formidable X-Men characters from the original Fox “X-Men” series to make an appearance, given that the menacing Doctor Doom (portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.) poses a threat of such magnitude. To effectively combat this powerful adversary, Earth’s top superheroes are gathering every available ally. As a result, the forthcoming movie will traverse various realities, integrating some mutant characters from diverse corners of the Marvel Multiverse to join forces against the revered Marvel Comics antagonist.
As a diehard movie enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming Marvel epic, Avengers: Doomsday, from the brilliant minds of Joe and Anthony Russo. In this mind-blowing adventure, multiple realities will collide as Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom seeks to rule not just his native universe, but every reality across the vast Multiverse!
The film boasts a stellar cast of familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson. But that’s not all! Newcomers to the MCU, like Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, and Ian McKellen as Magneto, will also make their mark in this thrilling interdimensional battle.
On May 1, 2026, you can expect the opening act of a two-part Avengers saga. The grand finale, titled “Avengers: Secret Wars,” is set to premiere in 2027.
Avengers: Doomsday X-Men Heroes Ranked by Strength
Professor X
Among Marvel’s mutant characters, Professor X (also known as Charles Xavier) is undeniably one of the strongest, making him a formidable X-Men figure in the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday. In this film, Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Charles, who has the extraordinary ability to read and manipulate thoughts through telepathy. This power allows him to interact mentally with anyone he encounters.
With the aid of his Cerebro device, which amplifies his powers, he can delve into not just nearby minds but any mind on Earth at any moment. Furthermore, he can traverse consciousnesses and mask himself by manipulating others’ perceptions. This combination makes Professor X a formidable, super-powered entity that Doctor Doom needs to be wary of in “Avengers 5”.
Magneto
In the realm of superheroes, I find myself drawn to Sir Ian McKellen’s portrayal of Magneto in “Avengers: Doomsday.” This metal-mastering mutant often finds himself following the footsteps of Professor X, a former comrade turned adversary on the X-Men power scale.
Magneto’s unique ability allows him to manipulate any magnetic field, transforming even the slightest trace of metal into his own deadly arsenal. This makes him an imposing figure indeed, as he wields the potential for immense destruction.
Beyond the metallic structures that make up the cities where Magneto frequently resides, this power also encompasses trace amounts of iron within human blood, as well as the magnetic fields governing Earth’s axis and those of the neighboring planets in our solar system.
Cyclops
Transitioning from Magneto to Cyclops, portrayed by James Marsden, there is a noticeable decrease in the scope and versatility of powers. Unlike Professor X who has the ability to manipulate thoughts, or Magneto who can control anything with magnetic properties, Cyclops’ powers appear more limited in comparison (for further information on Cyclops’ abilities, please refer to this link).
In my own words, I’d say: As a supporter of Cyclops, or Scott Summers, I can tell you that his unique mutant abilities manifest as intense beams of energy that erupt from his pair of eyes. With the aid of a specialized ruby-tinted eyepiece, he has the ability to regulate these powerful blasts, making him a formidable force against any adversary. Yet, it’s crucial to remember that beneath those eye beams lies a typical human being. If his energy blasts are neutralized, Cyclops finds himself in a vulnerable position.
Gambit
As a die-hard fan of X-Men, choosing between Cyclops and Gambit for this role was no easy task. In both the cinematic universe and the comic books, these two heroes possess remarkably similar power levels. However, when it comes to their readiness and reliance on external factors, James Marsden’s character has an edge over Channing Tatum’s. While Tatum’s hero had plans for his own film, he often requires additional elements to effectively use his powers, whereas Marsden’s character always keeps his abilities readily available.
Gambit possesses the ability to infuse any item, most commonly his staff and deck of cards, with extremely potent kinetic energy. This means he can transform a common playing card into a powerful projectile. However, without something to charge up, Gambit’s effectiveness in battle noticeably decreases.
Nightcrawler
Although Nightcrawler’s powerset, which includes teleportation, is beneficial for the X-Men team, his limited offensive capabilities position him lower compared to other potent mutant heroes coming up in Avengers: Doomsday. Despite being played by Alan Cumming, Nightcrawler can only teleport short distances with certain restrictions.
He’s got a good ability to leap around, but there are boundaries and he can only handle a specific weight between the starting and ending points. This means his capabilities are somewhat restrained compared to other Mutants.
Mystique
In the Avengers: Doomsday scenario, Rebecca Romijn’s character, Mystique, typically ranks low on the power hierarchy among X-Men characters. This is largely due to her frequent role in X-Men tales as a skilled intelligence gatherer. By utilizing her shape-shifting talents, she gathers information and transmits it back to her more powerful Mutant allies.
Mystique exhibits fierce combat skills, proficient in multiple martial art styles. In one-on-one human confrontations, her abilities are formidable. However, encountering opponents beyond mere fists significantly weakens the advantage of this blue-skinned figure.
