Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson reveals he was caught by the police trying to steal a porn magazine while exploring his sexuality as a teenager
During his teenage years, Jesse Tyler Ferguson admitted that he was apprehended by the police for trying to take a pornographic magazine.
49-year-old actor from Modern Family acknowledged that he was around 14 or 15 years old and was seeking to understand his sexual orientation during the regrettable event that occurred.
On the Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake podcast with Mel Giedroyc, Jesse shared this: ‘When I was around the age of an adolescent, I got caught red-handed stealing pornographic material.’
As host Mel joked: ‘Top shelf? Top shelf,’ Jesse confirmed: ‘Yeah it was pretty good porn.’
Admitting to his wrongdoing, he said something like, “I believe I was around 14 or 15 years old.” He had hidden the stolen publication underneath his shirt.
I feel remorseful about it, but I want to make it crystal clear before I leave for the hereafter: I never aspired to be a lawbreaker. It’s not in my character.
At that point in my life, it seemed as though there were limited options for me to express and understand my sexuality, as you didn’t offer much freedom to make choices. Consequently, I found myself compelled to take actions necessary for my needs.
Yet Jesse’s quest to explore his sexuality didn’t quite go to plan as Mel asked: ‘Who caught you?’
According to Jesse, the initial step was passing through a metal detector. Indeed, they had placed certain sensors within the ammunition magazines back then. As a result, when the metal detector sounded an alarm, it went off.
Mel added: ‘Oh, so the metal detector went off. It was under your shirt.
Jesse made a joke, saying: “It about gave me a heart attack all by itself. I came close to dying right there. You see, I had some inappropriate material hidden under my clothes, and the security alarm was ringing because of the metal detector.
They asked if I had something in my bag. I had to clarify that I didn’t, but I actually had some adult content hidden beneath my shirt instead.
‘They called the police, they were making an example out of me. Isn’t that awful?’
Currently, Jesse is wedded to his spouse, Justin Mikita. Together, they have become proud parents of two boys: Berkett, who is four years old, and Sullivan, at two.

On the Ellen DeGeneres show, she inquired about their son Beckett’s musical preferences, and Jesse promptly replied that there weren’t many music choices available in their vehicle.
He prefers a lot of musical numbers from shows, which is his personal preference. Therefore, in a light-hearted manner, he humorously mentioned that we are nurturing him to lean towards being gay, and he’ll decide on his sexual orientation when he chooses to be straight.
On our return journey from the hospital, Jesse shared that we played some Britney Spears songs, a tribute to his husband’s long-standing admiration for the pop icon. This marked his husband’s initial encounter with music.
On Sunday evening, Aubrey Anderson-Emmon, a cast member from Modern Family alongside Jesse, publicly identified as bisexual.
Aubrey, who portrayed Lily, the adopted child of Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse), shared the news on TikTok.
She adopted a playful approach, incorporating an audio clip from “The Future Dunphys” episode of Modern Family (Season 4), in which a young Lily humorously declares that she is not straight.
In a post, the actress showcased herself mimicking the dialogue, “I’m not, I’m gay! I’m gay,” which was spoken in response to Gloria (played by Sofia Vergara) claiming that she was Vietnamese, in a video clip.
Aubrey titled the video, “Everyone keeps teasing about me being gay, but let me clarify, I am indeed bisexual.
She titled her Sunday evening post as “hehe, celebrating Pride Month and off to bed for everyone,” using the hashtags #ModernFamily, #Lily, #PrideMonth, #Pride, #ForYouPage, and #Bi.
