BBC murder mystery perfect to “get lost in for a few hours” going to new UK streamer ahead of season 2

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has found a new streaming home ahead of its second season.

Originally airing on BBC iPlayer last summer as a British mystery-thriller adaptation of Holly Jackson’s novel, the series will relocate to Netflix for its second season starting from July 1st.

As a gaming enthusiast, I find myself immersed in the story of a character named Pip Fitz-Amobi, portrayed brilliantly by Wednesday’s Emma Meyers. This time, she’s not just another A-level student; she resides in a peaceful rural town. Intriguingly, for her school project, she decides to revisit an old, chilling murder case, turning the tranquility of her hometown upside down.

5 years past, schoolgirl Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies), mysteriously vanished, with the case presumed solved when her boyfriend Sal Singh (Rahul Pattni) seemingly confessed via text and later turned up deceased. However, protagonist Pip remains unconvinced that Sal was the culprit – instead, embarks on an investigation to unravel the actual truth.

Last year, it was officially announced that a new season of the show is being made, and right now, they’re working on it. Author Jackson is contributing scripts along with Poppy Cogan, who wrote for the first season.

Following the resolution of the Andie Bell case, Pip’s life has undergone significant changes due to her actions, not all of which have been positive.

Instead of trying to dodge further investigations, Pip is resolute on rectifying the consequences. However, with Max Hastings’ impending trial, crucial witness Jamie Reynolds mysteriously vanishes, placing Pip in a desperate hunt to locate him before it’s too late.

Initially, the first installment garnered largely favorable critiques upon its release in July, and now boasts an 83% approval rating based on 40 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

In our review on Digital Spy, we stated: “This series constructs an unique, time-locked world reminiscent of a frozen diorama and tailored to the life phase of a teenager. It’s a captivating environment you’ll find yourself immersed in for several hours.

The second season of “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” has not been announced with a release date yet. However, you can currently watch season 1 on BBC iPlayer and starting from July 1st on Netflix.

The inaugural print magazine from Digital Spy, titled “British Comedy Legends,” is available now! You can purchase this fascinating read in local newsagents or online for a mere £3.99.
